Hi!! Is it just me or did Halloween feel like it was three weeks long?? I dressed up as the Paul Frank monkey this year (IYKYK) and it was awesome. I even handed out monkey bandaids. Feel free to share any of your cute costume pics, I'd love to see :)

Friday, November 8 - Sunday, November 10
Dare to be Square, a weekend full of gathering, square dancing, and old-time music, is happening at multiple venues in Boise this weekend. It all starts at White Dog Brewing (705 W Fulton St) at 7pm on Friday for check in, with drinks and food available for purchase. The Square Dance Party begins at 8pm with acoustic bands (and a caller round robin!) and goes until 10pm. Things pick back up on Saturday bright and early (9am) at Shrine Social Club (1118 W Idaho St). There will be coffee, tea, and a light breakfast to get you on your feet for yoga. Orientation starts at 10am to get down to the basics!! Workshops continue throughout the day, covering topics like Southern Appalachian Big Sets, inclusivity in dance, and fiddle and banjo jams. You’ll then take a lunch break from 12:30-1:45pm and join evening public dancing from 8-11pm. Sunday begins with another light breakfast at 9am followed by vocal health sessions and workshops, including Western Squares and Calling 102. Afternoon workshops include Challenging Squares and Southern Squares on 78s, plus jamming and a Callers’ Debut for new callers. The weekend closes with a public dance from 7-9:30pm and a Monday brunch from 9am-12pm. You can view the full schedule here. Tix are $15-220 depending on how much dancing ya wanna do.

The Unwritten Story of Sacajawea is being told at the Idaho State Museum from 10:30-11:30am with a special presentation by Randy’L Teton, model for the Sacajawea coin released by the United States Mint in 2000 and author of "It’s Her Story: Sacajawea." Explore the The Unwritten Story of Sacajawea as Randy'L shares her years of research on the young Shoshone woman who set out with the U.S. Corps of Discovery Expedition in 1804. Supper Club is starting up for the fall and winter at Telaya Wine Co. Doors open at 5:45 pm, and dinner will begin shortly after 6pm. Gather your family and friends for a cozy, family-style dining experience and be taken on a gastronomic adventure around the globe! Terroir is crafting family-style dinners sourcing and supporting local makers and growers. Take a Tamale Making Class at Season & Taste starting at 2pm. This is a comprehensive, two-and-a-half hour class going over exactly how to make this delicious Mexican dish. Poblano & Cheese Tamales with Chile (Poblano y Queso) and Juicy Pork Carnitas with Aromatic Red Salsa (Carne de Puerto en Salsa Roja) will both be on the menu. Idaho Dream Wedding Expo at Expo Idaho on Saturday from 10am-4pm and Sunday 11am-3pm. Meet face to face with wedding professionals and find everything you need in one place! This is the largest wedding event in Idaho and definitely bound to cross a few things off the bride-to-be's list. Enchanting Objects (4906 W State St) is having their annual Holiday Event from 11am-5pm on Saturday with the fun continuing from 11am-3pm on Sunday. Their 1916 farmhouse and nine outbuildings will be decked out with amazing vintage and vintage look holiday decorations. They’ll also have hundreds of wonderful gift ideas, some fab furniture pieces, and a new French garden room! It’s free.
The Colossal Cinematic Showcase is happening at Overland Park Theaters (7051 W Overland Rd) from 3:45-9pm. Colossal After Party starts at 6:30pm. The Colossal Cinematic Showcase is a red carpet event that features two hours of short films made by independent filmmakers shown on the big screen. Following the films, you can attend the Colossal After Party at Mad Swede Brewing Company on Cole to meet and mingle with the featured filmmakers. This event is open to the public, yet please note this is for mature audiences only. They suggest arriving by 4pm so you have time to check in, walk the Red Carpet, and find your seat before the films start at 4:30pm. Tix are $15 and you can purchase them here.
