A few festivals & fun things

Thursday, August 22 - Sunday, August 25

  • Western Idaho Fair is happening through the weekend at Expo Idaho aka the fairgrounds. Tons of events happening each day, a carnival, live music, and more. See the schedule here.

Friday, August 23 - Sunday, August 25

  • Boise Tattoo Convention is happening at Idaho Central Arena in downtown Boise. It goes 3-10pm on Friday, 11am-10pm on Saturday, and 11am-8pm on Sunday. You can get tattoos there or just walk around and appreciate the art. No appointment necessary. There’s also tattoo contests happening each day. Tix are $20 per day or $45 for the weekend. Kids under 12 are free.

Saturday, August 24

  • Latino Fest Boise is happening in Cecil D. Andrus Park in downtown Boise. Enjoy live music, dancing, food, arts, workshops, and more. It’s free!

Saturday, August 24 - Sunday, August 25

  • Boise Comic Arts Festival is happening at Boise Centre in downtown Boise. There’s events for all ages happening each day. You can read my story about it here. The entire festival is free!

Next Wednesday, August 28

  • The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic is happening next week in Ann Morrison Park! Wednesday is kids day. Morning launches happen Thursday-Sunday, weather permitting. Friday night is the “Nite Glow” event where the balloons light up at night! Parking can be tricky in the park, I suggest parking outside of the park and walking the greenbelt in or parking on the bench and watching from the rim.

Saturday, August 24

  • ​Boise Farmers Market​ is happening from 9am-1pm at 1500 Shoreline Drive in Boise. This one is a food-focused market with local farmers, ranchers, and producers, plus a few food trucks. Also fyi no dogs allowed.
  • ​Capital City Public Market​ is happening from 9:30am-1:30pm on the Grove Plaza in downtown Boise. Art, baked goods, produce, herbs and spices, clothing, jewelry, and more.
  • ​Meridian Main Street Market​ is happening from 9am-2pm at City Hall Plaza & next to Meridian City Hall. Find fresh produce, artisan goods, crafts, and more. PS they are looking for volunteers!
  • ​Nampa Farmers Market​ is happening from 9am-1:30pm in Lloyd Square Park in Nampa. Tons of vendors to shop!
  • ​Eagle Saturday Market​ is going on from 9am-2pm at Eagle City Hall Campus. There’s food and craft vendors, and live music.

Sunday, August 25

  • Boise Flea is happening at Boise State in the East Stadium Lot. Tons of vintage treasures to find! Goes 10am-4pm. Parking is $5 and admission is free!

  • Boise Bard Players are performing Shakespeare's Cymbeline this weekend at different locations throughout the Treasure Valley this weekend. Here's the schedule: Thursday, August 22 at The Bishops’ House at 7pm, Friday, August 23 at College of Idaho at 7pm, Saturday, August 24 at Hilltop Station at 7pm, and Sunday, August 25 at Carl Miller Park in Mountain Home at 2pm. Tix are $20.

Friday, August 23

  • Improv Insanity Adult Comedy Show is happening at Watson's Mystery Cafe at 8:30pm. It’s an adults-only improv show that takes suggestions from the audience and creates scenes on the spot. Tix are $15-$45. 18+

Friday, August 23 - Saturday, August 24

  • Comedian Scott Losse will be at Mad Swede Downtown Brew Hall on Friday and Saturday night at 7pm. Tix are $20.

Saturday, August 24

  • George Lopez, comedian, actor, and tv host, is at The Morrison Center. Show starts at 7pm and tix are $60.50-$95.50. 18+
  • The Late Night Comedy Open Mic is happening at Mad Swede Downtown Brew Hall at 11pm. Signups are at 10:30pm in person. The open mic starts around 11:00pm. It’s free!

Sunday, August 25

  • Comedian Sam Miller will be at Mad Swede Downtown Brew Hall at 7pm. Tix are $20.

Food finds & things to drink

Friday, August 23 - Saturday, August 24

  • Peach Days is happening at Cherry Hill Farms. Go pick some peaches, take a wagon ride through the orchard, and enjoy a day on the farm. Tix are $10 for adults, $5 for kids, or $40 for a family - all tix include a free peach and the family tix includes a coupon for a free pumpkin in the fall!

Saturday, August 24

  • Winefest is happening on the Basque Block from 5:30-8:30pm. There will be over 100 wines plus pintxos/small bites from Bar Gernika, Bardenay, The Basque Market, Leku Ona and more. Tix are $75. 21+

Random stuff

  • This outdoor bar at the new Boardwalk on the River Apartments is beautiful. They will have restaurants and retail on the ground floor.
  • Have you heard of The Wandering Table? Looks amazing!
  • Have you been to The Bruery at Eagle View Landing? It’s a new brewery that just opened near TopGolf.
  • Speaking of beer, Yardarm got the last few cases of Powderhaus Brewing’s Haus beer, which is very delicious. The brewery is closing and this beer will soon be gone forever so get it while ya can.

Thursday, August 22

  • Repair Café is happening at JUMP tonight from 4-7pm. Bring in something that needs repaired and get help fixing it! Clothing and textiles, small electrical appliances, non-electrical household items, personal electronics, and books are all suitable items. Do not bring bicycles, firearms, knives and blades, large appliances, gas-powered machinery, or any item that could create a health or safety hazard. It’s free!

  • Record Store Pop Up happening at Bert’s Brewing from 12-5pm. Modern Sounds Vinyl is doing a lil pop up with albums for sale, live djs, merch and more.
  • More movies at The Egyptian! Night at the Museum is showing at 11am. Land of the Pharaohs (1955) is showing at 2pm. The Mummy (1999) is showing at 5pm. Tix are $10 per film.
  • Speed Dating for ages 35-55 is happening at Broadway on the Rocks at 5pm. It’s guided, so all you need to do is show up! There’s also an after party starting at 9pm. Tix are $25.
  • Dance Boise: Duets is happening at Shrine Social Club at 8pm. It’s an all ages, free dance performance! Doors open at 7pm.

Sunday, August 25

  • Stand Up Paddle Board & Meditation with Womeness in the Wilderness happening at 9:30am at Quinn’s Pond. Bring your SUP or rent one through Idaho River Sports. It’s free and donations are accepted.
  • Check out the Bouquet Bar at WM Knight Lavender & Flowers in New Plymouth. They pick the flowers and provide vases and you create a beautiful bouquet to take home. Open from 9am-2pm. Tix are $17. Also you can bring snacks or a picnic to enjoy in the flower fields!
  • Take a Bar Swing Dance Class at Heritage Social. Bring a partner and learn how to country swing. Tix are $35.
