Spooky season stuff, good tunes & reasons to go out to eat

Is it... Halloween time?

Well first things first I absolutely love Halloween, so my answer to the above would be yes. Second, tomorrow is Friday the 13th and there's a 80 days until Halloween. We have a few Halloween-ish things are happening in town this weekend. So, let's get in the spooky spirit, shall we?

This Friday, August 13, The Egyptian Theatre is screening back-to-back "Friday The 13th" movies! The classic 1980 film is screening at 7pm & the 2009 re-boot at 10pm. Go to one or both! Also, they are having a horror scream contest so get those pipes ready. It's $10/show or $20 for both and open to anyone age 16+.

Also this Friday the 13th, The Old Pen is hosting 32 Cells Art Show: Ethereal from 6-10pm. Local artists have new works inspired by stories of the spiritual and paranormal. Works are hung on the old jail cell doors. It's a really cool event! It's $8 and recommended for people age 13+.

The first ever Idaho Halloween & Horror Con 2021 is happening at the Red Lion Hotel downtown all weekend, August 13-15. There's a Friday the 13th party tomorrow night to kick things off. Saturday and Sunday you can go to the horror film fest, take workshops about costume makeup, cosplay, how to design a "home haunt", horror film acting, and much more. There's even a workshop called "Eyeballs!" which I don't know what that means exactly but definitely intrigued.

Tunes & shows

TONIGHT: I'm def going to see The Shivas (listen) at Idaho Botanical Garden. They are a super fun show & good groovy rocky tunes. Locals Ruff Pups (listen) are opening for The Shivas. Also tonight is Izaak Opatz (listen) at Neurolux with local openers Rider & Rolling Thunder (listen) and Nick Delffs (listen). I wasn't familiar with Izaak before this show was announced but I dig it! And both Rider & Rolling Thunder and Nick Dellfs are very good.

TOMORROW: Goood shows tonight. Three local bands are at The Olympic, College Level (listen), Pure Ivy (listen) & Mckenna Esteb (listen). Baby Lucia (listen) and some more locals are at LED. And last but not least, Country singer Ward Davis (listen) is at Neurolux.

Reminder that bands with a * = local
