Yoga dance party on Friday
Fri Jan 5: Yogafort Launch Party is happening at TMH. Yogafort is the yoga/movement/meditation/dance part of Treefort Music Fest. They are hosting a little launch party event tostart your New Year off with a journey into wellness. It starts with an all-levels yoga practice with Radha - followed by an ecstatic expression dance sesh with the Dance Commander. This event is open to everyone, all bodies, experience levels welcome. Bring your own yoga mat, blanket, water bottle and wear clothes and shoes you feel good moving and dancing in. Tix are $25 online or $30 at the door. Starts at 7pm.

Astronomy lecture & stargazing
Fri Jan 5: There’s an Astronomy Lecture and Stargazing event happening at Boise State tomorrow at 7:30pm. The lecture is led by Leif Edmondson, an amateur astronomer and member of the Boise Astronomical Society. Leif will give a presentation on Babylonian Astronomy. The lecture is also live-streamed on YouTube. After the lecture, you can go stargaze in Boise State’s observatory on the rooftop of the Science/Education Building, weather permitting. An indoor planetarium may be set up in case stargazing is not an option. It's in the Education Building, room 112 & it's free and open to the public.
Fri Jan 5: Go watch The Nate Ford 44 Special Viewing, a taped comedy special by local comedian Nate Ford. It's at Mad Swede Brew Hall and it's free! Also there's karaoke after.
Sat Jan 6: Comedian Jeff Shaw is at the Lounge at the End of the Universe for two shows at 7pm and 9:30pm. Tix are $25. 16+
Sat Jan 6:Comic of the Year 2024: Round 1 is happening at Mad Swede Brew Hall from 7-11pm. It’s an annual comedy competition. Tix are $30-$99.
Sun Jan 7: Comedian Ian Stanley is at the Lounge at the End of the Universe at 7pm. Tix are $20.
Food finds & things to drink
New wine bar alert!Parcero Wine Bar is opening soon in Garden City. You can look forward to 200+ bottles, wines by the glass, wine flights, small bites & wine events.
I finally made it to Bert's Brewing and it's absolutely amazing! I love it. It's so cozy and friendly. They have a handful of their own beer on taps plus a seltzer. They also have NA options like hop water and soda. Last night there was a hot dog pop up too! So fun. It's dog & kid-friendly. Go check it out! 3577 N. Brown St., Garden City, ID,
Speaking of Garden City, have you tried Black Moon yet? It's so good! They have amazing pizza, salad, apps, and a killer meatball sub. They recently opened so go support them!
Ramen pop up alert! This is hot news, y'all. On Sunday, January 14 Chef John Cuevas & Dave Yasuda are doing a culinary collab ramen pop up. There will be 6 seatings of 50 people from 11am-4pm. $25/seat. More deets here. This will sell out quick so book your seat asap!

Fri Jan 5: Want to learn to fix up your bike? Go to Femme Empowerment Mechanic class at BBP! It's a bicycle mechanical class for women, femme, trans & non-binary folks. Each month covers a different topic. Just show up with your bike and clothes that you don't mind getting a lil dirty. It's free!
Fri Jan 5: Go dancing at Ochos! Friday is Salsa and Bachata night. There's a beginner salsa/bachata lesson from 7-8pm, then social dancing from 9pm-1am. There's early bird tix online for $12.50 or $24/couple, or pay $15 at the door. 21+
Fri Jan 5: Check out Burlesqurama, a variety show based on the Futurama cartoon series, happening at The Balcony at 7pm. Tix are $20-$300. 21+
Fri Jan 5: Go shopping at the First Friday Evening Market at LA Junk Antiques. There's beverages and a bonfire, plus lots of cool things to shop! Goes 5-7pm.
Fri-Sat Jan 5-6: The Western Idaho Fly Fishing Expois happening on Friday and Saturday at Expo Idaho. There’s exhibitors with all kinds of gear, latest rods, reels, fly tying equipment, guide services, artwork and more, plus professional fly tiers, and a bunch of demos where you can cast rods and try out new gear. It’s on Friday, January 5th from 12pm- 9pm and Saturday, January 6th from 9am -5pm. Admission is $15, $10 for students w/ID & kids 13 and under are free.
Sat Jan 6: Join the Goth Coffee Meet at Flying M in Boise. Starts at 4pm.
Sat Jan 6: The 21st annual Gebert-Arbaugh Polar Bear Challenge is happening on Saturday, Jan 6 at 10am up at Lucky Peak Reservoir. It's a "polar plunge" event where you jump in the freezing water and raise money for Make-A-Wish Idaho. It takes place at Spring Shores Marina. More info here.
Sat-Sun Jan 6-7: Go treasure hunting at the Treasure Valley Indoor Flea Market at Expo Idaho. It's on Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 10am-4pm. Admission is $3, Seniors $2 and children 12 and under are free. Free parking, too!
Sun Jan 7: Join the Beginners Crochet Workshop happening at Alchemist Coffee on Overland. It's from 4:30-6:30pm. Tix are $10 and includes supplies.
