I could go for a drink

In my book, the best happy hours have drinks and good food.

Food makes me happy. Therefore my happy hour is only truly happy if food is involved. Here's a little list of some Boise happy hours with good drinks and great grub to pair with it.

Bittercreek Alehouse & Red Feather Lounge

Good peer, great food, and a nice patio. Credit Bittercreek Alehouse.

Every day during the week, Bittercreek and Red Feather (sister restaurants & neighbors), have low power happy hour. They unplug, turn down the lights, and light some candles in an effort to reduce their energy footprint. Sustainable and a lil sexy. Both restaurants also do a late night happy hour every day of the week with food and drink specials. Bittercreek and Red Feather are known for being hyperlocal – pretty much everything you’ll eat or drink there is local or sustainably sourced.

Bardenay Restaurant & Distillery

Bardenay is one of my fave places to eat and has everything you could hope for in a happy hour. It's usually pretty quiet, patios, food and drink specials, and it's truly good food and drinks. The Boise location is on the Basque Block has food and drink specials for happy hour. The Eagle location only has food specials. Also, Bardenay does to-go orders, including alcohol. The curbside cocktail is a 15oz cocktail in a pouch, like capri sun style, and they also have canned local beer and wine by the bottle for pick up orders. Lastly, fun fact: Bardenay was the first restaurant and distillery in the country!

If you’ve never been to The Basque Market, you need to. The sheer experience of it is worth the trip. The Friday night paella dinners are a must and the happy hour is the cherry on top. Order a few pintxos and try wine and beer from around the world. The Basque Market offers pickup orders, too.

Edge Brewing

The Edge kettle chip nachos and a cold beer. Credit Edge Brewing.

Edge Brewing is a family-owned Boise brewery and restaurant. The main brewery and restaurant is on Steelhead Way, kinda behind Target/by the mall. The newish Edge Pub on 10th is in downtown Boise on... guess what street lol. The weekday HH is $2 off apps, taps, and cocktails – all of which Edge does very well. Can’t go wrong with cheese curds, Edge fries, pickle chips, or snake bites, plus the beer and cocktails are top-notch. Daily specials make it even better. Also their canned "Off the Clock" vodka sodas are my new favorite.

Trillium

Flatbread and a cocktail. Credit Trillium.

Trillium is the newish restaurant and bar inside the Grove Hotel. I like it because it has excellent food, but I really like that it doesn’t feel like you are in a hotel bar. They have happy hour Monday through Thursday, with the exception of nights when a Steelheads hockey game or other event is going on in Centurylink Arena. It’s half-off apps, which is a great deal and their food is super good.

Parrilla

Pretty much sums up the Parrilla experience. Credit Parrilla.

Parrilla is my go-to for cheap beer, tasty tacos, and a good marg. Oh and tv overload a place to watch sports. It’s probably best known for its $1 taco nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I also love them because they put tater tots in their breakfast burritos.

Mala Luna is a Latin-inspired restaurant with a happy hour that rewards the night owls. It's on the corner of Idaho and Capitol, above Spacebar and around the corner from Boise Fry Co. If you like tortas, tequila, empanadas (and getting caught in the rain), you will love Mala Luna.
