Artsy Thursday evening

It's First Thursday in downtown Boise! This month is highlighting creativity with artist performances & live creation. 5-9pm throughout downtown Boise. Some cool things happen to check out:

  • Cherie Buckner-Webb Park, downtown Boise's first park, is officially opening today and will have performances by Uncle Chris with Bill Parsons, Starbelly Dancers, GLOBE, and the band Mr. Grant Olsen, along with artists Matthew Manzotta, Rick Friesen, and Becka Watkins.
  • The Basque Museum has free admission (last chance to see the current exhibit) and free wine tastings for those 21+. Local artist Bonnie Peacher will be doing a live painting out front.
  • Swing by Boise Art Glass and create your very own glass-blown rootbeer float cup.
  • Check out Fort Builder, a new coworking space in downtown. Tours, headshot photos, wine & art from local artists!
  • Live music, food trucks & yard games at Green Acres Boise.
  • Join local artists Eric Mullis and Kelly Cox at Clay Collective to see their work & more.
  • All the local artists doing live work throughout downtown.

Soulful Saturday

The Boise Soul Food Festival is back! This year it's happening on Saturday, August 7 from 11am-8pm in Kleiner Park in Meridian.

This one-day event brings the community together to showcase & celebrate African American culture & food.

The 2021 event features African-American-inspired soul food & Southern flavors from lots of local vendors like Vegan Soul Food, Louisiana Soul Bayou, Brother Brown BBQ, The Place to Feed Your Face, Ya Mon Jamaican Jerk Grill & more.

There will also be live entertainment and music, vendors, nonprofits, cultural workshops, and family-friendly fun. Get the details & check out the lineup of vendors & entertainment here.

Place to grab a drink

  • August 6-7: live music & yard games at The STIL on the Boise Bench! Tunes start around 6pm.
  • August 7: Idaho Brewers United’s Summer Fest at Mother Earth Brewing in Nampa. There's 15+ Idaho beers on tap BUT you have to guess which. Each tap will be numbered and you will be given a beer list – your goal is to sample your way through the taps and guess what beer is on what tap. Fun!
  • August 8: Battle RoyALE 35 at Woodland Empire, an IFPA ranked pinball tournament. It's all ages event, but people under 21 must be accompanied by an adult. $1 entry fee.

Things to do

  • August 6: Over in Garden City, it's the First Friday Art & Studio Stroll. It's the first one of the season & will be super fun!
  • August 6: Check out Raise your Eyes to the Heavens, a new artwork exhibit by Flint Weisser at Surel's Place. It will be up for the month. Tomorrow's event is free & 21+.
  • August 6: Go to Push & Pour in Garden City between 6-10pm & check out the super cool art & photography show! Local artists added to photography by Tal Roberts & it looks sweet.
  • August 6-14: Check out the different performances happening during BIPOC Playwrights Festival at Boise Contemporary Theater.
  • August 7: Sasquatch Con is happening at The Nampa Train Depot. There's an exhibit all about Bigfoot in Idaho :o
  • August 8: The Boise Flea is making its monthly appearance on State Street & 31st.
  • August 11: Take a figure painting class at Clay Collective. Limited space so reserve now!
  • August 13: Learn floral design with Posy Blue at Lovely Hollow Farm. Pick your own flowers from the farm, then learn how to arrange them! 6-8pm, tickets are $65 & byob.
  • August 13: Go on a date night & make something pretty at Clay Collective. It's really fun!
