    Fall is here! This weekend’s calendar is filled with a car-free festival, a runner’s dream race weekend, plenty of beer fests, and so much more.

    Here’s what’s going on in Boise this weekend:

    Oktoberfest weekend

    Prost! There’s quite a few Oktoberfest celebrations this weekend.

    Friday, September 25 – Saturday, September 26

    • Barbarian Brewing Oktoberfest is happening at Barbarian Brewing in Garden City from 5–10pm Friday and noon–10pm Saturday. It’s the brewery’s 3rd annual Oktoberfest, with Oktoberfest-themed beers, live music both days, three food trucks, and more. All ages and dog-friendly!
    • Bert’s Brewing OktoBERTfest is happening at Bert’s Brewing from 4–10pm Friday and noon–10pm Saturday. It’s their 3rd annual celebration, with food from CJ’s Cookout, traditional live polka music, a stein-holding competition, and more. It’s free!

    Saturday, September 26

    • Old Boise Oktoberfest is happening in downtown Boise on 6th & Grove Street from 2–10pm. There’s live music, 8 German biers on tap, non-beer and NA drinks, food, live music, a car show, and more. It’s open to all ages.
    • Oktoberfest at Melba is happening at Danelion Brewery from 1–6pm. It’s a family-friendly day with local vendors, live music, two food trucks, games, raffles, and prizes. It’s free!
    • Nampa Oktoberfest is happening at the Nampa Civic Center from 3–9pm. It’s a night of eating, drinking, and merrymaking with music and games, celebrating 19 years of bringing the community together.

    Thursday, September 24

    • Fall Plant Sale is happening at Idaho Botanical Garden from 4-7pm, with early access for members starting at 3pm. It’s the Garden’s annual sale featuring more than 5,000 plants across nearly 200 varieties, from perennials to Intermountain West natives, with horticulture staff on hand to help.
    • Zoo Know It All? (21+ Trivia) is happening at Zoo Boise from 6-8pm. It’s an animal-themed trivia night with beer, cider, and wine for purchase, plus guided tours to explore the zoo after hours. Tix are $20. 21+.

    Friday, September 25 – Saturday, September 26

    • The Gem State Burlesque Festival is happening at The Egyptian Theatre starting at 7pm both nights. It’s a two-night celebration of the art of the tease, bringing together headliners from across the country with Idaho’s own dazzling local talent. Tix are $29-$49 per night, or get a weekend pass starting at $49. 18+.
    • Boise Basin Quilt Show is happening at Expo Idaho from 10am-5pm. This year’s theme, “My Country ‘Tis of Thee,” brings hundreds of professionally judged quilts, a merchant mall, a gift garden marketplace, and a raffle quilt drawing. Tix are $10 for one day or $15 for both.

    Friday, September 25 – Sunday, September 27

    • Potato Days is happening at Kleiner Memorial Park in Meridian, Friday from 5-7pm through the weekend. Idaho’s official potato celebration features baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, loaded fries, and tots, along with live music, beer, and free lawn games for the kids.

    Friday, September 25 – Saturday, September 26

    • 13 Stories Film Competition and Showcase VII is happening at the Old Idaho Penitentiary from 8-10pm both nights (doors at 7pm). Local filmmakers premiere original short films inspired by true Idaho State Penitentiary stories; Friday includes the filmmaker awards presentation, Saturday is an encore screening of all the films. Guests can explore the Old Pen before showtime, with concessions, merch, and a no-host bar on-site. Tix are $12. Guests under 18 must be with an adult.

    Saturday, September 26

    • Thrive Wellness Festival is happening at JUMP Park from 10am-4pm. It’s a community celebration of health and wellness with yoga, breathwork, dance classes, workshops on mindfulness and nutrition, local vendors, a kids corner, and food trucks. It’s free!
    • Southwest Idaho Dahlia Society Show is happening at JUMP Room from 10am-5pm. The 4th annual show features hundreds of dahlias on exhibit, judged by the Federation of Northwest Dahlia Growers, with awards presented at 3pm. It’s free!
    • Kids in Aviation Day is happening at Payette Municipal Airport from 11am-4pm. Kids can climb into a 1963 Cessna 172, check out planes on static display, meet local pilots and aviation professionals, try hands-on STEM activities, and enter raffles for prizes like an introductory flight. It’s free!
    • SPACEPOINT: Interplanetary Life 2026 is happening at JUMP in the Pioneer Room from 12-6pm. Space exploration experts from NASA missions like Europa Clipper, Dragonfly, and the Mars rovers share their stories, capped off with a taco bar, a free sci-fi movie, and stargazing.
    • The Big Bounce America is happening at Expo Idaho. It’s the World’s Biggest Bounce House plus other inflatable attractions, with dedicated 3-hour sessions by age group: Little Bouncers (ages 1-7) and All Kids Bounce (ages 1-15) sessions, plus an Adults Bounce (16+) session. Tix are $35 for kids and guardians, $40 for adults.
    • Public Safety Day is happening at the Public Safety Training Center, 1223 E. Watertower Ln. in Meridian, starting at 10am. It’s a free, family-friendly open house from Meridian Fire and Police with live demonstrations, K9 and vehicle displays, and hands-on safety education for kids. It’s free!
    • St. Luke’s FitOne 5K/10K/Half Marathon is happening in downtown Boise, starting in front of the Capitol at 7:15am for the half marathon, 7:30am for the 10K, and 9:30am for the 5K. It’s Boise’s long-running fall race weekend, with kids running free. Tix are $40 for the 5K, $50 for the 10K, $60 for the half marathon (though the half marathon is currently full, with a waitlist). The after party in the park is one of the best parts!
    • Fall Terrarium Class is happening at FarWest Landscape & Garden Center starting at 10am. It’s a hands-on class where you build your own miniature terrarium to take home and enjoy all season. Tix are $50. Registration required.

    Sunday, September 27

    • Movies at the Egyptian! Princess Mononoke is happening at 4pm. It’s a special theatrical screening of Studio Ghibli’s beloved Hayao Miyazaki epic, following a young warrior caught between an industrial town and the spirits of the forest. Tix are $10. Runner is at 7pm. It’s an action thriller starring Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson as a medical delivery gone wrong pulls them into a deadly chase with a cartel. Tix are $10. 16+.
    • Japan Day is happening at the Gene Harris Bandshell in Julia Davis Park from 12-4pm. It’s a celebration of Japanese culture with live performances of taiko, koto, and shamisen, martial arts demos, calligraphy, food and craft vendors, and games for kids.
    • The Boise Flea: September Bonus Flea is happening at Boise State’s East Stadium Lot from 10am-4pm. It’s a bonus pop-up market with tons of vendors, since Boise Flea is popping up twice this month. It’s free! Parking is $5 per car.

    Tuesday, September 29

    • SEW Scary Costume Making Workshop is happening at Skip Annex from 6-8pm, the first of a four-week drop-in series running through October 20. Participants learn basic sewing skills and design their own Halloween costume to take home, with machines and materials provided. It’s free!

    Friday, September 25

    • 3rd Annual Nampton’s Wine (& Cider) Festival is happening at Lloyd Square, Downtown Nampa, from 6-9pm. It’s a relaxed evening of strolling through the park with wine and cider, local flavors, and early fall vibes. It’s free to attend! Wine and cider tasting requires purchasing a cup or tokens. 21+ for tasting.

    Saturday, September 26

    • Boise Farmers Market is at 1500 Shoreline Drive from 9am-1pm.
    • Capital City Public Market is on the Grove Plaza from 9:30am-1pm.
    • Meridian Main Street Market is at Meridian City Hall from 9am–1:30pm.
    • Nampa Farmers Market is at Lloyd Square Park from 9am-1:30pm.
    • Eagle Saturday Market is at Heritage Park in Downtown Eagle from 9am-1pm.
    • Harvest Kick-Off Event is happening at Hells Canyon Winery from 3-6pm. Celebrate harvest season with barrel tastings at 3:30 and 5pm, live music from Mark Mueller, and food from Owyhee Valley Charcuterie. Bring your own chairs or blanket, and wear walking shoes if you want to take a vineyard walk. Tix are $20 general or $10 for wine club members, including wine and barrel tastings. RSVP required.

    Wednesday, September 30

    • Wine-Ding River is happening at House of Wine from 6:30-7:30pm. Taste five wines from river regions around the world, including the Loire, Mosel, and the Snake, paired with light cheese and charcuterie. Tix are $45.

    Thursday, September 24

    • The Cabin Presents: R.F. Kuang is happening at The Egyptian Theatre starting at 7pm (doors at 6pm). The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Poppy War trilogy and Babel debuts her latest novel, Taipei Story, in conversation on stage. Tix are $50-$65, including a hardcover copy of the book.
    • Psychic Sheila’s Suga Shack Live Comedy Show is happening at Liquid Laughs from 7:30-9pm (doors at 6:30). Boise’s own Psychic Sheila mixes stand-up with live on-stage psychic readings, audience participation, and a shot at winning a free private reading. Tix are $30.23. 21+.

    Thursday, September 24 – Friday, September 25

    • Chaunté Wayans @ The Comedy Lounge is happening at The Comedy Lounge starting at 7pm both nights (doors at 6). Known from Netflix’s They Ready, Hulu’s This Fool, and her new Hulu special LOL Live, Chaunté Wayans brings a set on faith, sobriety, and the chaos of being human. Tix are $30.21. Two drink minimum.

    Thursday, September 24 – Sunday, September 27

    • The Heart of Robin Hood is happening at Idaho Shakespeare Festival at 7:30pm (7pm on closing night, Sunday). This gallant reimagining of the Robin Hood legend follows Robin and his band of outlaws in Sherwood Forest as Marion steps up to challenge his choices and inspire the fight for a better future. Tix are $29.68.

    Friday, September 25

    • Keep It Simple: A Comedy Show is happening at Oldspeak in Garden City from 7-9pm (doors at 6:30). Four comedians, Ashley Singleton, Erin Riley, Kat Falcone, and host Andrea Trammell, take the stage at the book bar for a no-pretense night of stand-up. Tix are $18 in advance or $20 at the door. 21+.

    Saturday, September 26 – Sunday, September 27

    • Christieprov: Mischief, Mayhem & Murder is happening at Boise Little Theater, with showtimes Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2pm and 6pm. The Noble Nitwits, the sublimely silly minds behind Austenprov, improvise a new one-night-only Agatha Christie-style whodunit each show. Tix are $20.

    • Storyfort Presents: Off-Season Stories is happening at Hap Hap Lounge from 5-7pm. Storyfort brings its signature storytelling series back outside of Treefort season for an evening of live tales. It’s free! 21+.

    Tuesday, September 29

    • Rediscovered Books Presents: Ariel Lawhon is happening at The Egyptian Theatre starting at 7pm. The NYT bestselling author stops in Boise on her nationwide tour to talk about her newest book, The Pirate Queen, followed by a book signing. Tix are $35 for admission only or $65 to include a hardcover copy of the book.
    • Writers-in-Residence Reading & Discussion is happening at The Cabin starting at 7pm. Boise City Writers-in-Residence Kim Cross and Don Zancanella join Idaho Writer-in-Residence Mitch Wieland for readings and a panel discussion on their experiences as writers-in-residence. It’s free! All ages.

    Wednesday, September 30

    • Garrison Keillor is happening at The Egyptian Theatre starting at 8pm. The longtime host of A Prairie Home Companion brings his storytelling and comedy to the stage, joined by special guest Richard Dworsky. Tix are $25.50-$75.50.
