Best Coffee Shops in Boise: A Local’s Guide by Neighborhood

    Filed under:

    Local Lists

Hi, I'm Marissa Lovell, a writer and lover of all things local. So glad you're here.

Boise runs on coffee! Between the roasters firing up beans in garages & little old houses, the baristas weighing every single shot, & the neighborhood spots where they know your order by heart, there’s a great cup waiting in just about every corner of the valley.

We rounded up our favorite local coffee shops & sorted them by neighborhood, so you can find a new go-to close to home (or plan a full-on coffee crawl).

Want more local picks like this? From Boise lands in your inbox every Thursday with the best things to do, eat & drink around town. It’s free!

    Downtown Boise

Slow by Slow & Fast by Slow

    405 S 8th St, Suite 155, Boise, ID 83702

A BoDo favorite with a rotating lineup of beans from roasters around the world, plus syrups made in house. The shop got a full remodel in summer 2026 & added Fast by Slow right next door, a quick-serve counter for mornings when you want the same great coffee without the wait. Pick your pace!

    Neckar Coffee

    117 S 10th St, Boise, ID 83702

Neckar got its start pouring coffee at the Boise Farmers Market & grew into one of downtown’s most loved roasters. Everything here is done by hand, from the pour overs to the shots pulled on a manual lever espresso machine. Grab something from the bakery case & stay a while.

    Form & Function

    511 W Broad St, Boise, ID 83702

Another Boise Farmers Market success story! Kate & Scott Seward roast their own beans & dial in every drink with serious precision. The shop itself stays bright, airy & welcoming. There’s a second downtown location inside The Sparrow at 11th & Grove, plus another one in Eagle.

    The District Coffee House

    219 N 10th St, Boise, ID 83702

A big, sunny corner spot at 10th & Bannock with plenty of room to spread out. It’s a solid pick for a coffee meeting or a work session, with pastries & a breakfast & lunch menu to keep you going. Fun fact: it’s a sister shop to Form & Function.

    Dawson Taylor Coffee Roasters

    219 N 8th St, Boise, ID 83702

A downtown staple since 1995! Dawson Taylor roasts its beans right here in Boise, & the 8th Street cafe got a fresh remodel a few years back while keeping its comfortable, come-as-you-are feel. Snag a patio table & settle in for some of the best people watching downtown.

    Pine Coffee Supply

    175 N 14th St, Boise, ID 83702

This father-son roaster got its start in tiny Pinedale, Wyoming, back in 2017, then picked Boise for its second home in 2023. You’ll find it in the Watercooler building on the quiet west edge of downtown, with custom wood furniture (the owners built some of the tables themselves) & beans roasted back in Wyoming. Ask what’s new on the bar, because this menu loves to experiment.

    Broadcast Coffee

    1100 W Idaho St, Suite 105, Boise, ID 83702

Broadcast started in Seattle in 2008, but founder Barry Faught is an Idaho native who named the shop for his dad, a longtime Boise radio DJ. The downtown cafe faces Cherie Buckner-Webb Park, which makes it a great spot to grab a latte & soak up some sunshine. The seasonal drinks are always worth a look!

    The West End

    Alchemist Coffee

    2701 W Stewart Ave, Boise, ID 83702

Alchemist roasts its own beans (the blends are named Gold, Copper, Silver & Iron, naturally) & makes its chai, cold brew & kombucha in house. The West End shop at 27th & Stewart also pours beer & wine & serves breakfast burritos, bowls & sandwiches, so it works just as well for an afternoon hang as a morning stop.

    Hidden Grounds Coffee

    3910 W Hill Rd, Boise, ID 83703

A cozy mother-daughter founded turned bestie-owned shop on Hill Road known for creative drinks made with organic ingredients. Think salted honey vanilla lattes & whipped strawberry matcha, plus pastries from local bakers. Heads up: there’s no wi-fi here, so make it a stop for solo reading, journaling or catching up with a friend.

    The North End

    Java Hyde Park

    1612 N 13th St, Boise, ID 83702

A Hyde Park classic from an Idaho original that got its start in Ketchum back in 1991. Order the Bowl of Soul, Java’s famous mocha made with Mexican chocolate, espresso, house-made whipped cream & cinnamon, then grab a seat on the patio & watch the North End go by. The other location is in Downtown Boise.

    Hyde Perk Coffee

    1507 N 13th St, Boise, ID 83702

A family-owned Hyde Park favorite just down the street from Java, with a cozy, rustic feel. Doors open at 5:30 a.m. on weekdays & stay open into the evening, so it works for a pre-ride coffee or an after-dinner latte. Try the white mocha with a cranberry-orange scone.

    Mountain Timber Coffee

2596 N Bogus Basin Rd, Boise, ID 83702

The last coffee stop before the climb up to Bogus Basin! Longtime locals might remember this spot as Mocha Moose. Today it has a rustic cabin feel with moose antlers on the walls, plus a drive-thru for powder days when you can’t spare a minute. There’s a second location in downtown Meridian at 106 E Williams St.

    credit Java Hyde Park

    The Bench

    Primal Coffee

    20 N Latah St, Boise, ID 83706

Owner Austin roasts his beans over a wood fire, the walls are lined with instruments & the mugs are handmade by his mom. Look for the ’67 Datsun truck parked out front, then order a breakfast sandwich & a latte made with Primal’s own oat milk or a house-made chai.

    Push & Pour

    13 S Latah St, Boise, ID 83705

Born out of Boise’s skateboarding scene, Push & Pour has been roasting & pouring since 2017. The Bench shop sits in a converted garage with roll-up windows, a big patio & a fire pit, right next door to The STIL. You’ll also find Push & Pour downtown at 501 S Ash St & at the original Garden City shop at 214 E 34th St, just off the Greenbelt.

    Common Ground Coffee & Market

    6419 W Ustick Rd, Boise, ID 83704

Two West Bench neighbors turned a vacant 1950s storefront into the hangout their neighborhood was missing. You’ll find coffee from local roasters, a little market, beer & wine, a piano in the corner & a play area for the kids. Try the Wise Guy, an Americano with honey & cinnamon topped with steamed half-and-half.

    credit Push & Pour

    Southeast Boise

    Hideout

    1737 S Broadway Ave, Boise, ID 83706

Part coffee shop, part art house, with a motorcycle workshop in the back. Hideout sits among the vintage and creative shops on Broadway near Boise State, and it’s the kind of place where you plan to stay 10 minutes and leave an hour later.

    Coffee With A Twist

    2475 S Apple St, Suite 101, Boise, ID 83706

Husband & wife Sarah & Dillon McVean opened this Southeast Boise shop in 2025 in the old Lulu’s Pizza space. The twist? A flaky French pastry baked in house every day, in flavors like cinnamon, almond, and ham & cheese. Every syrup & sauce is made from scratch too. Try the Banana Bread Latte!

    Bumble Coffee & Taps

3157 E Barber Valley Dr, Boise, ID 83716

Bumble started out as a mobile coffee setup before Boise native Nicole Pontius found it a permanent home in Barber Valley. The vibe is moody & cozy with darker tones, and the menu goes beyond coffee with matcha, beer, wine & small bites. It’s an easy stop before or after a walk along the river.

    credit Hideout

    Garden City

    Push & Pour

    214 E 34th St, Garden City, ID 83714

Where it all started! Push & Pour’s original shop sits just off the Greenbelt, so you can grab a coffee, wander down to the river & catch the surfers at Boise Whitewater Park. Same skate-scene roots, same house-roasted beans as the Bench location.

    Black Moon

3709 W Chinden Blvd, Garden City, ID 83714

Bakery by morning, pizzeria by night! Black Moon comes from the folks behind Broadcast Coffee downtown, so you’ll get Broadcast beans alongside pastries baked fresh in a special oven imported from France. That same oven turns out some seriously good pizza later in the day, so plan a return trip for happy hour.

    Lovekin Coffee Social Club

    217 W 37th St, Suite A, Garden City, ID 83714

Garden City’s newest hangout opened in summer 2026, and it’s filling the need to a late night coffee shop. Lovekin is built for meeting people. Members get their own nameplate on the social wall, plus an app for connecting with whoever else is there that night. It’s open mostly in the evenings, Thursday through Saturday until midnight, with game nights & tastings on the calendar. Membership is free & your first drink is on them.

    Meridian

    Primitive Grounds

    914 E 2nd St, Meridian, ID 83642

A glowing little coffee trailer on a corner in Meridian’s Old Town neighborhood, with an outdoor setup you’d never expect to stumble on. This woman-owned spot opened in 2025 & has already taken home Boise Favorites Gold. Think organic espresso, stone-milled matcha & creative drinks with rose petals & smoked sea salt. Dogs welcome!

    Cafe + Play

    232 N Main St, Meridian, ID 83642

Owner Allison Osborn fell in love with play cafes while visiting family in South Korea as a new mom, then spent years bringing the idea home. Sip a latte while the kids burn off energy in the indoor playground & art room. Every staff member is CPR certified, so you can actually relax.

    Royal Coffee Co

    3635 E Longwing Ln, Meridian, ID 83646

A locally owned, family-run shop in The Village at Meridian, pulling espresso drinks with organic beans. Big windows, plenty of seating & patio tables by the fountains make it an easy spot for a meeting or a break between errands. It stays open into the evening, so it’s a good pick before a movie at the Village.

    Victory Gardens Nursery

    100 E Victory Rd, Meridian, ID 83642

A boutique garden center with a drive-thru & walk-up coffee bar, run by Jasmine & Chase Hamilton on the same land where her parents started Victory Greens back in 1993. Grab a drink made with locally sourced ingredients, then wander the plants, the koi pond & whatever market or event is happening that weekend.

    credit Cafe + Play

    Nampa

    Flying M Coffeegarage

    1314 2nd St S, Nampa, ID 83651

Flying M’s Nampa shop fills a 6,000-square-foot former tire garage downtown, & it’s where the beans for every Flying M get roasted. Bring a friend, grab a pastry, browse the gift shop & settle in. It’s been a downtown Nampa cornerstone since 2006.

    The Perks of Life

    310 12th Ave S, Nampa, ID 83651

An Eagle favorite since 2007, Perks of Life opened this smaller downtown Nampa shop in 2025 in the old First & Second Coffee space. The focus here is simple: really good coffee & really good pastries. The original is still going strong at 1540 E Iron Eagle Dr in Eagle.

    credit Flying M

    Eagle

    Salt & Light Coffee Lounge

94 N Fisher Park Way, Eagle, ID 83616

Boise State grad Kylie Penberthy opened this cozy lounge in 2025 after realizing her side of the valley needed more coffee shops. Everything is organic, the coffee is roasted locally by Kettleball & the syrups are made in house. There’s kombucha on tap, plus beer & wine for later in the day.

    Kevista Coffee

    228 E Plaza Dr, Eagle, ID 83616

Kevin + Krista = Kevista! The couple opened their first shop in Bend, Oregon, in 2020, then moved to Eagle & opened this one in 2024. It’s bright & playful, with swing chairs to sit in, organic coffee & long-fermented sourdough on the menu. Heads up: it’s closed on Sundays.

    Eagle Coffee & Bakery

    3130 E State St, Suite 105, Eagle, ID 83616

They call themselves the people’s coffee shop, & everything in the bakery case is made in house. The classic cinnamon rolls are the move, so pair one with a handcrafted latte or an organic chai, or grab a breakfast sandwich if you need something heartier. Open every day from 7 a.m.

    credit Kevista

    Caldwell

    Miracle Grounds Coffee

    1612 S Kimball Ave, Caldwell, ID 83605

A nonprofit, mission-driven coffee house where every cup supports the community work happening inside. Swing through the drive-thru or settle in, & keep an eye out for live music & local farm goods. Try the Cuban coffee or a salted caramel cinnamon latte, & check hours before you go since they keep a shorter week.

    Bond & Bevel

    107 S 7th Ave, Caldwell, ID 83605

Coffee & leather on Indian Creek Plaza! Owner Heath Albers handcrafts leather bags inside an old bank vault right in the shop, while the espresso bar keeps things humming up front. He’s so confident in the coffee that if you don’t love your cup, he’ll make you a new one for free.

    Flying M Coffeeshop

724 Arthur St, Caldwell, ID 83605

Just a couple of blocks from Indian Creek Plaza, Flying M’s Caldwell shop has the good coffee & funky gifts the brand has been known for since it opened in downtown Boise back in 1992. Grab a cup & take a lap around the plaza.

    Jack Henry Coffee

    2621 S 10th Ave #101, Caldwell, ID 83605

Jack Henry roasts its own beans just over the border in Ontario, Oregon, & the blends have names like Old Timer, Daytripper & Bandit Decaf. The Caldwell coffee house opens early every day of the week, so it’s an easy everyday stop. Heading west? There’s a second location in Fruitland.
