    It’s rooftop weather, baby! I rounded up some classic + new spots to add to your list. Plus, Sweeney Todd opens at Idaho Shakespeare Festival this weekend, there’s tarot readings with tattoos, and tons of good shows! What more could you ask for?

    Bogus Basin Mountain Report

    Did you know that mountain temperatures are 10ΒΊ – 20ΒΊ cooler than in the valley? Head to higher elevations & check out some of Bogus Basin’s shade covered trails this week πŸ₯ΎπŸŒ²πŸš² Or enjoy an hour of free yoga on the lawn happening this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 😌 Whatever you’re in the mood for, Bogus Basin has something for you and yours to enjoy – from thrilling summer activities to free live music!

    Mountain bike Coach Emily is leading two Women’s Mountain Bike Clinics up on the mountain on Sunday, July 19th – all levels welcome!

    Thursday, July 16

    • DARUMA is showing at The Egyptian Theatre at 7pm. It’s a film from Academy Award winning executive producer Peter Farrelly about a man who discovers he has a daughter and takes a cross-country road trip that changes his life. Tix are $10. 13+.
    • Not Here to Make Friends: A Night Inside the Making of Reality Television is happening at Idaho Film Society from 7–9pm. TV editor Wilton Cruz (Top Chef, Below Deck, The Real Housewives) pulls back the curtain on how reality TV actually gets made, from the villain edit to the Frankenbite. Tix are $20 and include a glass of wine. 21+.
    • Third Thursday Street Festival is happening in Downtown Nampa from 6–9pm. This month’s theme is Future Founders, a family-friendly edition featuring a Children’s Market and activities for younger downtown explorers. It’s free!

    Thursday, July 16 – Sunday, July 19

    • Boise Hawks vs. RP Mobiles is happening at Memorial Stadium at 7:05pm Thursday through Saturday and 1:05pm Sunday. Catch a full homestand with theme nights all weekend, including Thirsty Thursday, post-game fireworks Friday, Blitz the Bat Dog’s retirement celebration and bobblehead giveaway Saturday, and Dollar Dog Day Sunday. Tix start at $14.

    Friday, July 17

    • Museum After Dark: RevolutionALE is happening at the Idaho State Museum from 6:30–9pm. Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with colonial tavern history, live brewing and printing press demos, live music, food, and hands-on activities throughout the museum. Tix are $30 early bird ($27 for ISHS members).
    • Athletic Club Boise vs Portland Hearts of Pine is happening at Athletic Club Boise Stadium at 7:30pm. Pro soccer is back at Expo Idaho, so wear your green, black, and white and help the squad fight for three points against Portland. Tix start at $32.

    Saturday, July 18

    • All-Gender Clothing Swap is happening at Cherie Buckner-Webb Park from 10am–12pm. Bring what you don’t want, take what you do, no money exchanged, and all are welcome. It’s free!
    • Historic Walking Tour of Downtown Meridian is happening at 10am, meeting at the front steps of Meridian City Hall. It’s a guided walking tour through downtown Meridian’s history. It’s free!
    • Rugged Idaho Expo is happening at Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell from 10am–3pm. It’s a homegrown outdoor gear expo where you can outfit yourself for camping, grilling, fishing, and hunting ahead of your next Idaho adventure. It’s free!
    • Star Wars 3D Print Paint Day is happening at Books on the Vine from 10am–5:30pm. Stop in anytime to paint your own 3D printed Star Wars figure, and snacks and drinks are welcome. Prints are $5–$10.
    • Tattoo & Tarot is happening at 7995 W Fairview Ave from 9:30am–8pm. It’s a witchy one-day event where you get a personal tarot reading followed by an intentional flash tattoo, and appointments must be reserved ahead by messaging the organizers. Tix are $111 for the reading and tattoo combo. 18+.

    Sunday, July 19

    • Geology Hike to Eagle Rock is happening at the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology from 8–10am. Eliza Schulz leads a relaxed-pace hike up to Eagle Rock, covering the rocks, how the hills formed, and what created the Treasure Valley below. Tix are $5, kids and IMMG members are free, and everyone must pre-register.

    Tuesday, July 21

    • American Red Cross Blood Drive is happening at the Old Idaho Penitentiary from 10am–3pm. Donate blood and give back, plus everyone who donates gets a free admission pass to the Old Pen for later. It’s free!
    • Bar Sports Olympics Cornhole Tournament is happening at Bluebird Social, with practice and registration from 4–6pm and the tournament kicking off at 6:30pm. Grab a partner for the teams-of-two round robin and knockout bracket, with a $100 bar tab for first place, $50 for second, and a DJ spinning from 6–9pm. Register online or on-site before 6:15pm.

    Wednesday, July 22

    • Trivia with Geeks Who Drink is happening at Boise Brewing from 7–9pm. It’s their weekly trivia night, and you can win free beer every round. It’s free!
    • After Hours + Music Talks Panel: Shake Your Assets is happening at Hap Hap Lounge from 6–10pm. It’s a music community meetup on getting your artist assets and socials show ready, plus live music from Brother Fantastic and Ruby Emmen. It’s free! 21+.

    • South American Wine Social with Mike is happening at House of Wine from 6–7:30pm. Wine Guide Michael just got back from a South American wine odyssey and is pouring four of his favorite finds in a casual flow-through tasting, so arrive whenever and sip at your own pace. Tix are $30.
    • Supper Club with Terroir is happening at Telaya Wine Co. at 6pm. It’s a family-style dinner from Terroir, Telaya’s resident food truck, and this month’s America Summer menu features pimento cheese sandwiches, tomato peach salad, fried chicken, and peach cobbler, plus a welcome splash of wine. Tix are $60.

    Rooftop Round Up

    There’s no better vibe in the summer than a rooftop bar. Here’s where to drink with a view this week:

    • The Highlander sits on the top floor of Hotel Renegade and 100% has the best downtown views in the city. Grab a cocktail, post up by a fire pit, and watch Boise glow.
    • The Boise Post is new in town, 16 floors up in the AC Hotel downtown. Two patios, fire tables, and a cocktail menu built on local spirits.
    • Hap Hap Lounge is Treefort Music Hall’s rooftop hangout, where the cocktails are playful, the DJ sets are frequent, and nobody’s in a hurry. Go before a show or make it the whole night.
    • Luna Bar at Barbacoa is a classic. String lights, foothills views over Parkcenter Pond, and DJs spinning at golden hour Thursday through Sunday.
    • Reef is the OG. Misters for the hot days, mai tais for every day, and happy hour from 3 to 6pm daily with $4 drafts and $7 mojitos and margs.

    • David Studebaker is happening at The Comedy Lounge at 7pm. Named one of the 10 best comics to watch by SF Weekly, Studebaker blends music, personal stories, and pop culture into fun, interactive, uplifting stand-up. Tix are $16, and there’s a 2 drink minimum.

    Thursday, July 16 – Sunday, July 19

    • The Magician’s Table is happening at the Morrison Center at 8pm Thursday and Friday, 4pm and 8pm Saturday, and 1pm and 5pm Sunday. It’s an immersive speakeasy-style show where you’re seated onstage at tables of 12 while world-class magicians perform close-up sleight of hand, with live music and storytelling woven throughout. Tix start at $110. 18+.
    • Tons of Money is happening at Stage Coach Theatre at 7:30pm Thursday through Saturday and 2pm Sunday. It’s a zany farce about a broke inventor who fakes his own death to dodge his debts and resurrect himself as his rich cousin, until the imposters start piling up. Tix are $25. 10+.
    • Aladdin JR. is happening at Boise Little Theater at 7:30pm Thursday through Saturday and 2pm Sunday. It’s Disney’s beloved tale of a street kid, a genie, and three wishes, performed by young local actors with expanded characters and new songs. Tix are $15.

    Friday, July 17

    • Darci Lynne is happening at The Egyptian Theatre at 7:30pm. The America’s Got Talent winning ventriloquist brings her puppets Petunia, Oscar, and Edna to Boise for one night of clean, high-energy comedy, music, and audience interaction. Tix are $25–$45.
    • Zoo’s Line is it Anyway? Improv Comedy Show is happening at Zoo Boise from 6–8:30pm. Explore the zoo after hours with a drink in hand, then catch an animal-themed improv show at 7pm made up entirely from audience suggestions, with 100% of ticket sales supporting the zoo and wildlife conservation. Tix are $20 (or $30 for both shows) and must be purchased in advance. 13+.
    • Lectures by Lushes: A Drunken Lecture Series is happening at White Dog Brewing at 8pm. It’s TED Talks meets Drunk History, with very smart and very drunk presenters covering everything from Synanon to the making of Mad Max: Fury Road. Tix are $15. 21+.

    Friday, July 17 – Wednesday, July 22

    • Sweeney Todd is happening at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival at 8pm most nights (7:30pm Sunday, dark Monday). Sondheim’s chilling musical thriller about the demon barber of Fleet Street opens its run this week, with a preview Friday, opening night Saturday, and family night Sunday. Recommended for ages 12 and up due to violence and mature themes. Tix start at $27.56.

    Saturday, July 18

    • Summer Blockbuster Comedy Show is happening at The Creative Space in Garden City at 8pm. Recycled Minds Comedy celebrates the best and worst of summer movies, defusing bombs, advising cinema’s worst villains, and ending the night with a fully improvised blockbuster based on your suggestions. Tix at $15.99.
