Downtown is poppin' this week. First Thursday kicks it off, Art in the Park takes over Julia Davis, Pride Fest is in Ann Morrison with a parade through downtown, and World Village Fest is at JUMP. Here's what's going on this weekend:
Firsts of fall
Thursday, September 4
- ​First Thursday is happening in downtown Boise tonight from 5-9ish pm. There's night markets at KIN and Treefort Music Hall, free wine at House of Wine, new beer and bingo at Barbarian Brewing, The Blue Thunder Marching Band is playing in the Grove Plaza, and lots more! Friday, September 5
- ​Boise State Football plays its first home game of the season on The Blue at Albertsons Stadium. The Broncos take on Eastern Washington, with kickoff at 7pm. More info on parking and tix here.
Festival weekend
Thursday, September 4 - Saturday, September 6
- ​World Village Festival is happening September 4–6 at JUMP in downtown Boise. This festival brings together and represents the many communities that call Boise home, including Mexican, Basque, Native American, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Indonesian, Bosnian, African, Lao, North and South American, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Greek communities. There’s tons of live music, dance performances, cooking demos, really yummy food, and more. You can see the schedule here. It's free and very family friendly!
Friday, September 5 - Sunday, September 7
- ​Art in the Park is happening in Julia Davis Park. There’s over 200 artists set up with all kinds of things from painting to ceramics to textiles to jewelry and everything in between. There's also a children’s art tent, live music and dance performances at the Gene Harris Bandshell, and lots of food trucks.
Saturday, September 6 - Sunday, September 7
- ​Boise Pride Festival is happening at Ann Morrison Park. It’s a celebration of LGBTQ+ pride, visibility, and community. There’s two days of live music, drag shows, community booths, and a family-friendly zone. The weekend wraps with the annual Pride Parade through downtown. It’s free and welcoming to all.

- Idaho Shakespeare Festival’s final performance of the season, Peter and the Starcatcher, kicks off tonight and goes through Sunday, September 28. This Tony Award-winning prequel to Peter Pan is a high-flying, family-friendly adventure full of humor, magic, and over 100 unforgettable characters.

- ​The 3rd Annual Idaho Fiber Festival is happening at Oxford Suites Boise. This two-day market and gathering celebrates needlework and spinning fiber crafters, with yarn, fiber, and tools for sale plus plenty of crafting inspiration.

- ​The Downtown Meridian Car Show is happening from 10am–3pm in downtown Meridian (Idaho Ave & 2nd St). This first-ever show will feature classic vehicles (pre-1990), live music, food, public judging, and trophies at 2pm. Free for spectators.
- ​Adult Gymnastics Open Gym is happening at Bronco Gymnastics (106 E 48th St) from 7:30–9:30pm. For $10 (cash), you’ll have access to beams, bars, trampolines, foam pits, and more. A coach will be onsite for safety, but no formal instruction.
- ​The Best of BOSCO Exhibition & Mosaic Fundraiser Opening Reception is happening from 5–9pm at Fire Fusion Studio & Delia Dante Gallery. See the very best of BOSCO artists, plus a mosaic fundraiser where you can take home an original 8"x8" piece for $150. Free to attend.
- Boise Brewing is hosting a Beard Battle from 6–10pm in honor of World Beard Day. If you have a beard, you can compete for Best Full Beard, Best Partial Beard, Most Styled Beard, Longest Beard, Burliest Beard, and Community Favorite. It’s free to attend and $10 to compete.
Saturday, September 6 – Sunday, September 7
- ​Summer Mornings with Sauna Social Club are happening at The Modern. Join a 60-minute wood-fired sauna + cold plunge session between 7am–2pm. $25 per person, towel and electrolyte water included.

- ​The Southern Idaho Mushroom Association is meeting at 7pm (second Monday of each month, September–June). Gather with fellow fungi fans to learn about mushrooms, foraging, and mycology. All are welcome. It’s free!
- ​Science on Tap is happening at Boise Brewing from 5–6pm. Dr. Eric Hayden will present Self-Constructing Ribozymes: A ‘missing link’ in the origin of how living organisms copy themselves.
Tuesday, September 9
- ​Petals For Purpose: A Pressed Flower Workshop is happening at Oldspeak Bar in Garden City at 6pm. Hosted by Lindsay Rae Art and SHE (Style Her Empowered), the workshop includes all supplies to make your own framed floral art, plus light appetizers. Proceeds benefit SHE’s Back to School Campaign supporting girls’ education in Togo, West Africa.
Wednesday, September 10
- ​Boise Weekly Language Exchange is happening at Trailhead from 6:30–8:30pm. Practice speaking languages like Spanish, French, German, and more in casual conversation tables. All levels welcome. It’s free!

- ​Taste of Idaho is happening in Nampa from 5–8pm. Hosted by the Nampa Chamber of Commerce, this annual harvest celebration features live music, local food and drinks, and a beer and wine garden. Tickets are $50 for members, $60 for non-members.

- ​Lead Hammer Cocktails is launching at Meriwether Cider House in downtown Boise on Friday, Sept 5 from 4–9pm. This brand-new canned cocktail brand (from the makers of Meriwether Cider) is debuting with two Idaho-inspired flavors: The Cosmonaut (a bright, tart twist on a Cosmopolitan) and The Cutthroat 75 (an Idaho spin on a French 75). Both are gluten-free, plant-based, and made with real ingredients. At the launch you can be the first to taste them, grab bites from local food trucks, and even watch cocktails poured over hand-chiseled ice.
