Weekend festivals & fun stuff

Thursday August 8 - Saturday, August 10

  • Payette County Fair & Rodeo is happening in New Plymouth this weekend. There’s all kinds of events going on, including music, exhibits, contests, vendors, 4H shows, a pet parade, stick horse race, rodeo. Here’s the full schedule.
  • Owyhee County Rodeo is happening all weekend in Homedale. There’s multiple rodeo events happening each day. Gates open at 6pm and tickets are $10-$20.

Saturday, August 10

  • Boise Soul Food Festival is happening at Julia Davis Park from 11am-8pm. There’s over 40 different food vendors and events happening throughout the day. Parking is available in the BSU Brady Garage, it’s $5 for the day.
  • Inaugural Downtown Nampa Music Festival is happening at Lloyd Square Park in Nampa all day. There’s free music throughout downtown Nampa from 12-5pm and then the main event is from 5-11pm and tix are $20. Kids and seniors are free. Main event includes live music from Glitterfox + Jay William Miller + Town Of Trees + Highway45 Band + many more. Fun!
  • Smokey the Bear’s 80th Birthday Celebration is happening at Idaho State Museum from 12-3pm. You can meet Smokey Bear, enjoy a birthday cupcake, learn about wildfire
  • prevention, and create your own ranger hat. It’s free with museum admission & admission is $2 off.
  • Dino Days is happening at Eagle Island State Park. The Discovery Center of Idaho will be there with dinosaur-themed activities at 1pm and there’s a guided hike after that.
  • Caldwell Night Rodeo Kick-Off party is happening at Indian Creek Plaza from 6-9pm. There’s dancing, live music, food & more. This year is the 100th year of Caldwell Night Rodeo and it starts next week, August 13-17.

Saturday, August 10 - Sunday, August 11

  • Nampa Festival of the Arts is happening in Lakeview Park in Nampa. There will be over 200 artisans showing a variety of works. There’s also live entertainment, food, and kids activities. Goes 9am- 6pm on Saturday and 10am-3pm on Sunday.

Saturday, August 10

  • GemState 208 Market is happening from 9am-4pm on the corner of Linder Ave. & Deer Flat at The Farm Estates Park in Kuna (1450 N. Massey Ave., Kuna).
  • Boise Farmers Market​ is happening from 9am-1pm at 1500 Shoreline Drive in Boise. This one is a food-focused market with local farmers, ranchers, and producers, plus a few food trucks. Also fyi no dogs allowed.
  • ​Capital City Public Market​ is happening from 9:30am-1:30pm on the Grove Plaza in downtown Boise. Art, baked goods, produce, herbs and spices, clothing, jewelry, and more.
  • Meridian Main Street Market​ is happening from 9am-2pm at City Hall Plaza & next to Meridian City Hall. Find fresh produce, artisan goods, crafts, and more.
  • Nampa Farmers Market​ is happening from 9am-1:30pm in Lloyd Square Park in Nampa. Tons of vendors to shop!
  • Eagle Saturday Market​ is going on from 9am-2pm at Eagle City Hall Campus. There’s food and craft vendors, and live music.

Sunday, August 11

  • The Boise Flea is happening from 10am-4pm at Boise State in the East Stadium Lot. Admission is free & parking is $5!

Friday, August 9

  • The Improv Games is happening at the Lounge at the End of the Universe. It’s a comedy competition that allows improvisers from all over the Treasure Valley to compete in duos for fun, glory, and cold, hard cash! Each week, the audience decides who lives or “dies,” in this love letter to The Hunger Games. Tix are $25 and it goes 7-9pm.
  • Lectures by Lushes: A Drunken Lecture Series is happening at The Balcony Club from 7-8:30pm. It’s where smart people teach you about something while super drunk. This month’s topics are The Titanic (boat, not movie), Fertility & Adoption, A History of April Fools Day, The Milwaukee Public Museum, and Revolutionary Jose de San Martin. Tix are $15-$20. 21+
  • Improv Insanity Adult Comedy Show is happening at Watson's Cafe at 8pm. It’s an adults only improv show. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. Tix are $15-$45. 18+

Sunday, August 11

  • Campfire Stories is happening at The Modern and its From Boise edition! Marissa, Julie and Amanda will be reading some From Boise stories. Goes 7-9pm and you can reserve a table if you want!

Tuesday, August 13

  • Story Story Night: The Great Outdoors is happening at 8pm at the Old Pen. People tell positively shameless true stories of their lives on an out-there theme. Tix are $17 online or $20 in advance.

Thursday, August 8

  • Small Bite Pairing is happening at Sockeye Brewing’s Alehouse on 36th Street. The menu is an arugula salad and halibut-peach ceviche, paired with a bottle of Sockeye’s Barrel-Aged Peach Creek Wild Ale. Yum! You can just drop in, you don’t need a ticket.
  • Gourmet Buffalo Wings are on the menu at Mad Swede Brewing tonight. Enjoy southern style wings, crinkle fries, and a cold beer from 6-9pm.

Friday, August 9

  • Tintos y Tapas is happening at Veer Wine Project. Enjoy an evening inspired by Spain with small bites paired with wines. There’s also live music. Goes 7-9pm.

Saturday, August 10

  • Beer Olympics happening at Heritage Social from 12-4pm. To compete, buy a $35 ticket and you get to compete in teams of 2, beer and food included, and winners get cash and prizes! 21+
  • Downtown Boise Summer Beer Tour kicks off on Saturday. It’s a beer passport with 10 local, downtown breweries. Visit all 10 breweries and get a stamp and you win stuff! Must complete passport between August 10 - September 10.

  • Golden Retriever Meet Up happening tonight at Clubhound. It’s from 7-9pm and you either need a membership or $15 day pass to attend.

  • Flower Press Workshop is happening at Franz Witte from 11am-1pm. Learn how to press 10 different flowers. Tix are $130 and include a 9x12 flower press to work with and take home.
  • Idaho Indie Shorts Cinema Showcase is happening at Overland Park Cinema at 9pm. It’s a family friendly theatrical screening created to highlight some great short films made in Idaho. It’s free!

Tuesday, August 13

  • Learn to skateboard at Cassia Park! This free skate sesh will cover demos on two types of boards and helpful tips to get comfortable on your skateboard. Helmet required. Goes 6-8pm.
