Boise’s new Traffic Garden in Ann Morrison Park is opening with an Inaugural Ride from 10am-12pm. It’s a miniature version of a real street system that lets kids and families practice biking, walking, and rolling while learning road signs and safe navigation skills without cars around. Super cool! There will be bike safety lessons, and a mobile fix-it station. Bring your kid’s bike or there will be some bikes available to borrow.

Champagne & Fried Chicken Pairing is happening at 6:30pm at Parcero Wine Bar in Garden City. Two of my favorite things at one of my favorite places! Enjoy three pours of Grower Champagne paired with three Southern fried chicken flavors (Creole dry rub, hot honey, and Caviar BBQ), plus a guided tasting. The second half of Great Garden Escape starts next week!
If you missed the June shows or just want more chill evenings in the garden – you’re in luck. The second act of Great Garden Escape starts next Thursday, August 28, and runs through the end of September.
Catch local bluegrass band Turtle Poppers, local junkerdash trio Hillfolk Noir, local Americana artist Ryan Curtis, and Washington indie group Elevator Operator.
Each Thursday brings live music, food and drink vendors, and warm evenings under the trees at Idaho Botanical Garden. Grab your friends, a picnic blanket or low chair, and come hang out.
“Romeo + Juliet” (1996) Screening is happening at Idaho Film Society. There’s a happy hour at 7pm, discussion at 7:30pm, and the screening at 8pm. Tix are $20 and all proceeds benefit The Boise Bard Players’ upcoming production of Love’s Labour’s Lost, opening September 4 and touring across the Treasure Valley. 21+

Kids Animal Masks Workshop is happening at Catalyst Arts Collaborative. It’s a 2-hour, hands-on workshop where kids ages 8–13 can dive into the imaginative world of mask-making while learning the basics of felting and creative construction. Goes 11am-1pm.
Arts & Crafts Supply Swap is happening from 10:30am–4pm at Rediscovered Books (new location at 1576 W. Grove St). Bring unused craft supplies to swap and fill a bag with new-to-you treasures for $5. Supply drop-off Aug 19-22.
Guided Nature Program is happening from 9-11am at Bogus Basin. Join Boise National Forest botanist Crista O’Conner for a wildflower walk to learn about and admire native plant communities.
Foothills XC12K is happening at 8am at Fort Boise Bike Park. It’s a 12K or 5K cross-country race through the foothills on a challenging course.
Wild River Dash is happening at 9am at Esther Simplot Park. This paddle-and-run duathlon starts with a paddle on Quinn’s Pond and ends with a 2-mile run along the Greenbelt. Individuals, teams, kids, and families welcome. Proceeds benefit Wild Hearts Idaho. Registration required.
Felting Techniques Workshop is happening from 1-4pm at Surel’s Place. Learn the art of wet-felting, with a focus on Iranian nomadic techniques, and create your own 3D felted vessel. Open to ages 16+, all skill levels. Tix are $35 for monthly sustaining members or $45 general.
Opera by the River is happening at the Star Riverhouse. Enjoy a free family concert of well-known classical duets and more, performed by local singers. Bring a picnic or purchase food and wine from vendors. Music starts at sunset.
Summer Book & Booze After Hours is happening from 7–8:30pm at Rediscovered Books (new location on W. Grove St). Enjoy wine tasting from Telaya, local snacks, and take home a bottle of wine plus a bookseller pick. Tix are $55, limited to 56 people.
Boise Indian Food Festival is happening from 5-7pm at Julia Davis Park. Enjoy Bollywood music, henna art, and a menu of Indian favorites like dosas, samosa chole chaat, butter chicken, biryani, paneer sliders, and more. Warbird Roundup is happening at the Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa. See historic warplanes from across the country, meet the pilots, and watch them fly — plus this year features the F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team Heritage Flight.
