💌 Things to do in Boise April 3-9

Ever heard of a bioluminescent firefly petunia? Wondering where all the Farmer's Markets are this year?

This week's newsletter is filled with Spring and all things that bloom. There's also a couple car shows, Treefort recovery in the form of sauna and cold plunge sessions, and more than a few fun shows.

Plants that glow?

Saturday, April 5

  • Join the Bioluminescent Firefly Petunia Release Party at Jordan’s Garden Center from 3-7pm on Saturday. This is a brand new glow-in-the-dark plant variety grown here in Idaho. You can purchase your own Firefly Petunia for $45 here. It can be either an indoor or outdoor plant, but it’s best seen in the moonlight. This event coincides with their Spring Into Spring Food Truck Rally complete with 12 food trucks, beer garden and an incredible live band!

Saturday, April 5

  • The Boise Farmers Market is having it's opening day this Saturday from 9am-1pm located at 1500 Shoreline Drive. It runs from April to October.
  • The Nampa Farmers Market is open this Saturday from 9am-1pm located at Lloyd Square Park. It runs from April to November.

  • The Meridian Main Street Market is opening next Saturday, April 12th from 9am-1pm located at 33 East Broadway Avenue. It runs from April to end of August.
  • The Capital City Public Market is opening April 19th from 9:30am-1:30pm located at the parking lot on the corner of​Myrtle and 11th Street. It runs from April to December.
  • The Eagle Saturday Market is opening May 3rd from 9am-1pm. It runs from May to September located at Eagle City Hall. They also have live music from 10am-1pm. It runs from end of May to end of September.
  • The Caldwell Farm To Fork Farmers Market is opening May 20th from 5-8pm. It runs from May through September.
  • ​The Boise Flea is kicking off on April 13th located in the Albertson's Stadium parking lot. It ends in October. Mark your calendars now & get ready for the start of another beautiful market season in Boise.

Thursday, April 3

  • Get pumped for First Thursday in Downtown Boise with a lineup of exciting events! Barbarian Downtown is hosting Rock’n Bingo at 7pm and dropping three new beers: Waffle Cone Stout, German Pilsner, and Tangerine Radler. If you're feeling bookish, head to Trailhead for the 10th Annual Children's Book Drive or swap books with Third Shelf at the Idaho Building. Sip and snack with Acero’s Board & Bottle special or catch the Boise Phil at Mad Swede Downtown Brew Hall from 5:30-7pm. Need a stretch? Stretch Zone is offering free assisted stretching. There’s a lil something for everyone this First Thursday. Don’t miss out!
  • ​St. Luke's CARES Night is happening at the Flicks from 7-9pm. They’ll be playing the film Rewind, which explores the gap between image and reality, depicting both how little and how much a camera can capture. Tix are $5. You can watch the trailer here.
  • ​Radio Days is happening at Meridian Senior Center from 7-8pm. It's a live stage performance of the beloved comedy series, The Great Gildersleeve! Open to the public. Tix are $5.
  • ​Stoke the Flow! The Big Paddle Party is happening at Idaho River Sports from 5:55-9:05pm tonight! Celebrate ​​the start of river season with a raffle drawing, live DJ set, food trucks, and beer provided by Barbarian Brewing.

Friday, April 4

  • ​Holi 2025, Boise’s long-awaited festival of colors, is happening in The Quad at Boise State University from 6-11pm. There will be a mix of bollywood/pop music, belly dancers, and non-toxic, water soluble colored powder. Tix are $9 in adv, or $15 dos.
  • ​Create Gallery and Frames is having a soft opening this Friday at 5:30pm. Garden City’s newest art & frame gallery :)

Friday, April 4 - Sunday, April 6

  • ​The Idaho Horse Expo is happening at the Ford Idaho Center all weekend long!! You can view the full schedule here. Tix are $15 and kids 12 & under are free.

Friday, April 4 - Saturday, April 5

  • ​Sauna & Cold Plunge Sessions at The Modern Hotel from 5:30pm-10:30pm on Friday, 6am-11am and 5:30pm-10:30pm on Saturday, and 6am-11am on Sunday. The sessions are 45 minutes long and you can book here!

Saturday, April 5

  • The Eagle Classic Car Show is happening at the Boise Hawks Stadium from 12-4pm. There will be a bounce house for the kids, beer, food and the 2025 Eagle Rock Girls with free classic car calendars. It’s free!
  • ​The Ronald McDonald House Charity Car Show is happening at Restoration Rods from 9am-1pm. All makes and models are welcome, and there's no registration needed! Rain or shine, they'll be going full throttle. Joe Prin will also be there doing live radio! You might remember him from our beer can story :) It’s free!
  • ​JOYFUL fundraising event is happening at The Riverside Hotel from 7-10pm. There will be live music from Asphalt Buffet (classic rock/blues) + local duo Blaze & Kelly (folk rock) plus a silent auction. Proceeds from the silent auction go to benefit the WCA and Nampa Family Justice Center.
  • ​The Social Hub is having a Silent Disco Party. It’s 70’s & 80’s themed and there will be multiple music channels to choose from. Tix are $38. All are welcome!
  • The Superhero Walk for child abuse prevention is happening at the Nampa Family Justice Center from 3-5pm. It ends with free food, carnival games, bounce houses, a train ride, resource booths, and a chance to win one of 6 brand-new bikes for kids (with helmets) as a raffle prize. Be sure to wear your best superhero outfit!!

Sunday, April 6

  • ​Taking Care is playing at the Egyptian Theatre at 2pm. It’s a 38-minute documentary following the journey of filmmakers Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen as they navigate the complexities and heartbreak of Lauren's mother's advancing Alzheimer's disease through humor, heart, and unwavering commitment to change. Tix are $30.
  • ​Stand in Solidarity with Teachers at the Idaho State Capitol from 4:30-5:30pm. This is a family-friendly, peaceful event rooted in love, respect, and the belief that education matters.
  • ​Spoonful Ice Cream is having its grand opening at Storey Park in Meridian from 10am-5pm this Sunday! There will also be pet adoptions :)

  • ​Geoffrey Asmus will be doing a comedy show at the Knitting Factory at 8pm. Tix are $25-55.

Friday, April 4 - Saturday, April 5

  • ​Aaron Woodall + Jessa Reed will be at Mad Swede Brew Hall on Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 9pm. If the little angel and devil from your shoulders ever did a stand up comedy show, this is what it would sound like. Tix are $25.

Saturday, April 5

  • ​LUKE SEVEREID will be at Mad Swede Brew Hall at 7pm. His style is described as insightfully idiotic, aggressively absurd, and most accurately, unmedicated ADHD in action. Tix are $15 for early birds, or $25 dos.

Saturday, April 5

  • ​Shameface is happening at Recycled Minds at 8pm. It’s a comedy show proving that every embarrassing moment can have a wonderful comeback. Tix are $16 for adults and $6 for kids ages 5-12.
  • ​Jenny Zigrino will be at The Comedy Lounge for two shows at 6 & 8:30pm. Her brutal honesty and undeniable charm create a comedic experience you won’t forget. Tix are $25.
  • ​Zoltan Kaszas will be doing a comedy show at the Knitting Factory at 7pm. Tix are $30-65.
