Helllloooo friends! Today's newsletter is jam packed with events. I've got some super bowl specials for ya, some Fat Tuesday parties, and of course, lots of Valentine's events. So many v-day events that I had to sprinkle them throughout the newsletter because it was overwhelming to put them all together. You can listen to today's podcast episode here.

Also, we will be debuting two new things soon: a website and a referral program. The website will be simple to start, but will give us the capability to do more. Kinda crazy that From Boise has never had a "real" website, huh? This page is just a lil landing page. I want to make it clear that the website will not become a blog or replace this email newsletter. The newsletter will always be the main thing.

I hope to roll out the referral program by the end of the month. Our referral program will give you points every time you refer someone to subscribe to From Boise, and you get prizes for doing so. I know that so many of you tell your friends and family to subscribe, and I am so grateful that you do. This will give you a thank you in return!

Superbowl is this weekend. I'm still salty about the Ravens losing. Here's some football specials goin on:

Mardi gras & Fat Tuesday

Sat Feb 10: Mardi Gras on the Bayou party is happening at Louisiana Soul Bayou (inside Chow Public Market). There will be a crawfish boil, shrimp boil, king cakes, beads, live music, and more. Goes 11am-5pm.
Tue Feb 13: Blues & funk bands Blue Roux + Trials & Tribulations are at The Sapphire Room. Tix are $20-$25 and it starts at 7pm.
Tue Feb 13: There's a Mardi Gras Downtown Business Crawl at Indian Creek Plaza with 15+ businesses. 10am-10pm.
Tue Feb 13: Radio Boise's inaugural Fat Tuesday Fling is happening at The Balcony. Live music from Idaho Peace Band, Radio Boise DJs, a pop-up drag show, beads galore, and a costume contest. Tix are $20-$28. 21+

Valentine's

TONIGHT: Galentine’s Pop-up Market is happening at Barbarian Brewing from 5-8pm. There will be lots of local vendors, live music, and some tasty BBQ.
Fri Feb 9: Love and Lust - A Battle of Temptation is happening at Visual Arts Collective. Enjoy an evening of acrobatics, burlesque, music, comedy, dance, and more. Doors open at 8pm, tix are $30. 21+
Sat Feb 10: Lover's Bingo at Coiled is happening at Coiled Wines. Tix are $10. 18+
Sat Feb 10: Build a bouquet date night is happening at Jordan's Garden Center. Tix are $55 per couple and includes instruction & supplies to build a beautiful bouquet! PS Jordan's Garden Center has the cutest cats.
Sat Feb 10: Totally 80’s Valentine’s Prom with Casino Dreams at Knitting Factory Boise. 8pm tix are $12.
Sat Feb 10: Órale Valentine's Masquerade Ball is happening at The Riverside Hotel. Tix are $40.
Sat Feb 10: Join Sagebrush Collaborative from 11am-6pm for a Galentine’s Day Event. They will have several women-owned businesses popping up in the shop for the day, and BOGO deals on their in-store craft menu. Goes 11am-6pm.
Sat-Sun Feb 10-11: Indian Creek Winery is hosting a Valentine's Bazaar from 12-5pm. Live music, vendors, food and more!
Sun Feb 11: Valentine's Favorite Things Party is happening at Hidden Gem Events in Meridian. You bring one thing you love, bring 4 more of the same item, and then exchange randomly with strangers. So fun! It's free but limited to 30 people.
Mon Feb 12: There's a Valentine Market at Telaya Wine Co is happening at 3pm. Shop local vendors while sippin local wine!
Tue Feb 13: Lit & Co Candles is hosting a Make Your Own Candle event at the Hyde Park shop. Tix are $39 & you get to make your own 9oz scented candle. There is a 6-7pm slot or 7-8pm slot.
Wed Feb 14: Lost Grove Brewing is hosting a Valentine's Paint N' Sip. Come with your valentine or go solo & meet some new friends! Tix are $35.
Wed Feb 14: Valentine's Couples Dance & Singles Mingle is happening at Humpin' Hannah's from 7pm-2am. There's a sweet giveaway, valentine's (one has a $100 bar tab in it), rom com trivia, drink specials, and more! 21+
Wed Feb 14: Valentine's Speed Dating is happening at Warehouse Food Hall. Check in at 5:30pm, dating starts at 6pm.
Wed Feb 14: Boise Single & Mingle Valentine's Day is happening at Payette Brewing. There will be games, Arno Chocolate (my fave), tarot reader, floral arrangements, drink specials & people to meet! Goes 5:30-8:30pm.
Wed Feb 14: Open Heart Conscious Dance: A Sober Banger is happening at Lounge at the End of the Universe. There will be a ceremony and poetry from 7-8 followed by dance from 8-9:45. This is a sober event. Tix are $15.
Wed Feb 14: Romancing the Pen is happening at The Old Idaho Pen. Find the true meaning of "ball & chain" lol. Self-guided tours and special exhibits on love stories. Speaking of, here's my love story about Dennis the Cat. Admission is $10 or $14 per couple.
Wed Feb 14: The Little Window (NE corner of 11th & Main) is hosting a Valentine’s Day Pop-up from 9am-2pm. There will be roses, chocolates, gifts and greetings!

Terrible news: My favorite place, Trailside Bakery, is closing. I am heartbroken. They are closing by the end of February. Please go support while you can. They truly have the best treats and nicest people. I'm so sad. Anyway here's some food & drink events, including Valentine's stuff:

Tue Feb 13: Telaya Wine Co and Bruce Ranch Beef are doing a Chef Series class. Tix are $110 and includes a class on beef preparation and a take home package.
Tue Feb 13: Sockeye Alehouse Sweetheart Brewer's Dinner is happening at the Fairview location and the new Hill Road location. It's a four-course dinner paired with drinks for $55. It doesn't say for sure but I think it's 21+.
Wed Feb 14: Hap Hap Lounge is doing a lil valentine event with a wine & dessert pairing, a wine & app pairing, and DJ spinnin' romantic tunes. It's $30/person or $60/couple and available 4pm-12am. 21+

Things to do

TONIGHT: Payette Brewing & Après Mobile Ski Tech are joining forces again this year to bring you the best thing since après beers. Get ready for the ski season with a fresh wax and tuning, while you wait, enjoy a beer or two. Receive a $1 off your first draft beer when you get your skis or snowboard worked on.
Sat Feb 10: The Lit Room is doing a Book Happy Hour from 4-6pm and it’s 10% off all new books.
Sat Feb 10: Lost Grove is having an Art Show from 6-9pm where they will be giving out free samples of their new menu items.
Sat Feb 10: Go on a Exhibiting Curiosity Behind the Scenes Tour at Idaho State Museum. Get a behind the scenes look at how artifacts become a part of the state’s collections. It's free for members or $15 for nonmembers (museum admission included).
Sun Feb 11: There's an LGBTQ+ Community Science Nature Walk at 11am at Red Fox Trailhead. This event is size inclusive and great for people who enjoy shorter, gentler trails. It’s an opportunity for Boise-area folks to spend time outdoors and build community in a safe and inclusive space. It's free!
Sun Feb 11: Fleet Feet Meridian is hosting a Free Workout Class with Snake River CrossFit for the grand opening of the new Nampa location (1850 Caldwell Blvd, Ste 120) at 10:30am. There's lots of events happening there all weekend!
Next Th Feb 15: Ever wondered what it takes to be a public artist? Join Level Up: Going Public, a four-part professional development series for local artists. This Thursday event is the launch party. All events are free but spots are limited so hurry up and register!
