Welcome, new neighbors!

In case you missed it: Idaho will welcome around 400 refugees from Afghanistan starting next year, as reported by the Idaho Press. New neighbors - woo!

In case you weren't aware, Boise has been a resettlement city since the 1980s and became a certified Welcoming City in 2019. You can read more about refugees resettling in Boise in our past story, Boise was the American I was thinking of.

Speaking of, there's a cool event this weekend. Belonging Begins with Us: An Evening of Storytelling is happening out at Edwards Greenhouse on Friday from 6-8pm. Hear personal stories from the Refugee Speakers Bureau about sports' vital role in building bridges and creating connections between New Americans and their neighbors.
