New arcade, new skatepark, secret stuff & more

Heyooo. Look at this lovely summer weather! Here's some fun stuff to do this weekend & things I'm thinking about. Also the podcast is back :)

New arcade & venue

Have you heard about realms? It's a brand new arcade, venue and lounge. They have games, beer, wine, food & a live music venue. It's a great price too! $10 for adults, $8 for students, $6 kids (age 4-12) or free for under age 4. That price gets you unlimited free play on all arcade cabinets, console stations, pinball (prize giving games excluded) AND re-entry all day. What a deal!

Go check it out! Here's the website & the address is 109 S 23rd Street, Suite A, Boise 83702.

New skate park

The brand new Molenaar Skate Park is officially open & it's sweeeet! It's like a baby Rhodes. Go check it out. There's also a new splash pad, playground & lots of picnic space around the park. The address is 2815 S Maple Grove Rd, Boise, ID 83709.

Wtf is chip sealing

Have you heard someone say "it's chip seal season" or seen things (or people complaining) about how ACHD is chip sealing the roads?

As I was riding my bike down a freshly graveled road yesterday, getting pelted with tiny rocks as cars passed me, I got all dramatic and thought "What the hell is chip sealing anyway?! Why are they doing this to me!?" So I found out & thought you should know too.

What is chip sealing? It's a process of adding a new layer to asphalt roads to keep them in good condition.

What's the process? A thin layer of asphalt liquid is sprayed on the road. Then it's covered by chipped rock. Then they roll over it a few times to set the rock. Then they sweep. Then they do a "fog seal" and then they sweep again. More info here.

Why tho? It extends the life of roadways, keeps them in good condition, creates a moisture barrier, gives tires better resistance, and seals cracks.

Here's an interactive map of where chip sealing is happening around Boise this summer.

It is definitely a lil annoying but I was less annoyed when I learned why it was happening. Hope you feel the same!
