It's Dine Out Downtown Boise week!

It's a good week to be hungry, my friends. The weeklong Dine Out Downtown Boise event is back in action.

Dine Out begins tomorrow, Friday, October 29 and goes through the following Sunday, November 7. It's the ideal excuse to go out on an eating adventure. There's 27 restaurants participating, so you have a lot of options to sort through. Or you can go wild and eat at all of them. Sounds fun, eh?

Here's how it works: Participating restaurants create special multi-course menus at a fixed price that are available during this week only. There's five categories:

  • $10 2-course breakfast/lunch
  • $10-$15 social hour
  • $15 2-course dinner
  • $30 3-course dinner
  • Fine dining menu (prices vary)

Also, all of the restaurants have their regular menu in addition to a Dine Out menu.

Head over to downtownboise.org/events/dine-out and peruse the menus. Choose your faves or choose a restaurant that you haven't tried yet. Then you're onto the fun part: eating.

I have been drooling over this event for like a month so here's what has my attention:

  • Richard's $10 breakfast - Choose two: Half Benedict, Eggs & Bacon, Chef's Choice Fruit, or a Blueberry Streusel Coffeecake. They have social hour & fine dine menus too.
  • Bacon's $10 lunch - Naked Bacon Samm w/ fried & puppies (hush puppies?) AND Fried Bread Pudding! Can we normalize lunch dessert already?
  • Basque Market's $10 lunch - Manchego Potato Soup (yum) or Market Salad; Chorizo Pamplona & Manchego Cheese Bocadillo or Olive Tapenade & Manchego Cheese Bocadillo. They also have a sweet social hour deal.
  • Lemon Tree's $10 lunch - One of Boise's best. Choose a side & a sammy. They have six sammy options and half are veggie/vegan. My all time fave is the Veggie Reuben.
  • Juniper's $10 lunch - Pizza & a side salad. One of the perfect combos. Mushroom & Chevre Pizza or Spicy Calabrese Pizza.
  • Melting Pot's $15 social hour - Choose a cheese fondue & a chocolate fondue. A match made in heaven.
  • The STIL social hour - $10 local beer or wine with a single scoop or Affogatos for Two. $15 beer/wine/ice cream flights.
  • Solid's $15 din - Pear Chèvre Salad or Curried Coconut Pumpkin Bisque to start. Sweet Potato Enchiladas or the Weekly Mac & Cheese for an entree. Solid choices.
  • R&R BBQ $15 din - Beef Brisket, Smoked Chicken, or Pulled Pork with a side, finished off with Creamy Banana Pudding or Warm Peach Cobbler. Mmhm.
  • Juniper's $30 din - Oven Bread app, Squash Risotto entree & Vanilla Budino with salted butterscotch sauce for dessert.
  • Leku Ona's $30 din - First course is House Salad, Soup of the Day, or Roasted Pumpkin with goat cheese and honey. Second course is Snake River Farms Beef Cheek, Hagerman Trout or Boise River Lamb Shoulder Steaks. Finish off with Pumpkin Stuffed Profiteroles, Burnt Basque Cheesecake or ice cream.
  • Matlack's $30 din - Start with Mini Baked Potatoes (cute), Frito Pie, or Smoked Chicken Lollipops. Then onto Tri-Tip Salad, Smoked Chicken Salad, Boss Hog sammy, Smoked Club sammy, Smoked Tofu Banh Mi sammy, or the Seattle Dog. Dessert is Banana Pudding or Warm Cookie Sundae.
  • The Lively's fine dine - Start off with Spiced Pumpkin Bisque, then onto Risotto Ai Funghi or 1/2 Roasted Chicken. Finish off with Basque Cheesecake. Twist my arm!

Check out all the menus here. There's soo many good options this year. Happy eating & exploring!

New shop on the bench

My bff is opening a new store opening on the Boise Bench! Derlūj is opening in the little shop that was formerly Frog's Fix Coffee Parlor.

Derlūj is opening at 701 S Latah. She's doing a little soft opening partay on Friday, October 29 from 4-7pm if you are in the neighborhood. You'll find sweet vintage clothes, hats, candles, greeting cards, jewelry, and other fun things. It will be a good one for holiday shopping so go check it out!

Tunes & shows

A lot of good shows happening this weekend and next week. I'm here to recommend so for your listening pleasure, may I suggest hip hop artists Sol + Sam Lachow (listen) tomorrow, the delightfully whimsey & spooky Mega Bog (listen) on Saturday, new local band Floating Witch's Head on Sunday, and indie rock Soccer Mommy (listen) next Tuesday.
