Tuesday follow up

My story on Tuesday was about Boise pools of the past & present. And I forgot a pool of the present/future!

The Idaho Central Aquatics Center recently opened & has its grand opening next Thursday. It's an indoor facility that includes two pools – a six lane 25 yard pool and an eight lane 50 meter pool. It also provides swimming lessons, water aerobic classes, public lap swim, and practice space for 3 USA Swimming teams, with more programming planned in the coming months. Also there's two high level USA Swimming meets happening there this summer!

Summery Market

Fri-Sat June 16-17: Summery Market is happening at the Rose Garden at Expo Idaho! Shop over 120 handmade + vintage vendors with all kinds of unique goods and gifts, like candles, jewelry, clothing, collectables, art, and so much more.

New this year, Summery Make + Takes. These classes are happening at the market and include the price of admission:

Summery Market is on Friday June 16 from 4-8pm and Saturday June 17 from 9am-5pm. It's all happening outdoors in the Rose Garden at the Expo Idaho (the fairgrounds) at 5610 N Glenwood Street, Garden City. Also we are giving away free Summery Market tickets on our Instagram!

World Refugee Day

Sat June 17: Boise's World Refugee Day Celebration is happening on Saturday, June 17 from 9:30am-1pm at The Grove Plaza. There will be a Citizenship Ceremony at 11am, plus food vendors, music and dance performances, arts & cultural vendors, and local organizations that work with refugee and New American populations.

Dad's day stuff

• Fri June 16: Huston Vineyards is doing a Father's Day Sunset Tasting with live music by Andry Crosby and Bullz Eye BBQ food truck. Goes 5-9pm.
• Fri June 16: Sawtooth Winery is hosting a Father's Day Dinner from 6:30-8:30pm. Tix are $70 and includes a steak dinner and two glasses of wine.
• Sat June 17: Hells Canyon Winery in Caldwell is doing buy one, get one wine by the glass for dad's.
• Sun June 18: Meriwether Cider is doing Father's Day Axe Throwing and Tacos from 12-6pm.
• Sun June 18: Dads get a free round of mini golf at Wahooz, offer good from 10:30am-10pm. Also the mini golf course was recently redesigned!
• Sun June 18: Go see the Father’s Day Comedy Show at Lounge at the End of the Universe. Dad's get a free drink! It's at 2pm & appropriate for all ages. Tix are $15.
• Sun June 18: Beards & Brews is happening at Twisted District Brew Co. Dad's get a beer & hot towel shave for free! Walk in or make a reservation for your shave. Starts at 11am.
• Sun June 18: Go play Father's Day Mini Keg Disc Golf at Clairvoyant Brewing (9115 E Chinden Blvd #107). There's cornhole too! Opens at 12pm.
• Sun June 18: Go to a car show. Touchmark Father’s Day Weekend Classic Car is happening at Touchmark at Meadow Lake Village in Meridian from 10am-1pm. And the Annual Downtown Boise Father's Day Car Show is 9am-3:30pm in downtown Boise, more info below.
• Sun June 18: Vizcaya Winery Car Show and Concert is happening from 12-4pm. Enjoy live music, food from Big Juds and wine.
• Sun June 18: Go to the Boise Hawks game and stay for post-game Father’s Day Catch on the Field. (Btw the team they are playing is called the Rocky Mountain Vibes hahah how trendy).
• Sun June 18: Warhawk Air Museum has free admission for dad's. Go look at some old war planes & memorabilia.
• All weekend: Cinder Wines is doing 2 for 1 drink specials for dad's.
• Chandlers is offering a Father's Day Butcher Block, which is their take-home, three-course dinner, for $50. Great deal honestly.

• TODAY: The Boise Trails Challenge kicks off today. Read my story about it here.
• TODAY: Tamarack is officially open for the summer! They've got a five new miles of trail in the bike park, a zip line, and Camp Tam, a new summer program for kids with biking, scenic walks, team building, golf, disc golf, crafts, pickleball and more. Also they are doing fireworks on July 1, if you want a weekend trip!
• Fri June 16: Movies in the park tonight! Minions: Rise of Gru is showing at Julia Davis Park at the Bandshell, Settlers Park in Meridian, and Optimist Park in Nampa. Starts at dusk. Byo blanket and picnic. It's free!
• Fri June 16: Idaho Shakespeare Fest has a new performance kicking off today, As You Like It is going on until July 1.
• Sat June 17: Two movies showing at The Egyptian. West Side Story (1961) at 3pm and Good Morning Vietnam at 6:30pm. Tix are $10.
• Sat-Sun June 17-18: The Treasure Valley Triathlon is happening around Quinn's Pond area. You can watch for free!
• Next Sat June 24: Salsa Under The Stars, a night of Latin music and dancing, is happening at JUMP from 8pm-12am. Tix are $15 online or $20 at the door, and benefits local nonprofit Global Lounge.
