    Things to do in Boise in February

    February is here and there’s all kinds of fun things going on. Wintery events (even tho it feels like spring), out of town adventures (where it’s actually winter), Valentine & Galentine events, and more! As always, I’ll keep ya updated on the weekly events every Thursday, but here’s some things to plan ahead for:

    February 6-7: SkiJor Boise

    Skijor Boise is happening at the Ford Idaho Center. It’s the Boise debut of this weird but cool sport, which involves horses running really fast while towing skiers through a course. Qualifiers are on Friday and the championships are on Saturday. Multiple viewing options including GA, VIP, and tailgate spots.

    February 7: Boise Philharmonic — Windborne’s Music of Queen

    ​Boise Philharmonic​ is performing Windborne’s The Music of Queen at Morrison Center at 7:30pm. The band stays as close to the original as possible. Tix are $44-$110 depending on seats.

    February 7: Superb Owl Saturday

    ​Superb Owl Saturday​ is happening at the World Center for Birds of Prey from 10am-4pm. It’s a family-friendly day of owl encounters with live presentations at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm, plus arts and crafts, hot chocolate and coffee, and special activities at noon. All ages!

    February 8: Harlem Globetrotters 100 Year Tour

    ​The Harlem Globetrotters​ are playing at ExtraMile Arena at 3pm. If you aren’t familiar, it’s a basketball entertainment show with lots of dunks, trick shots, comedy, and fan interaction. This tour is celebrating 100 years of the team.

    February 10: Galentine’s at Parcero Wine Bar

    ​Galentine’s at Parcero Wine Bar​ is happening from 3-9pm. Gather your girlfriends for drink specials all day, a featured rosé pour benefiting the Idaho Coalition for Safe Healthcare, plus pop-ups from BoldHue and Rice & Beans Collective.

    February 11: Idaho Mushroom Club film w/ Merlin Sheldrake

    The Idaho Mushroom Club is hosting ​Fungi: Web of Life screening + Merlin Sheldrake Q&A​ at Treefort Music Hall from 6-10pm. It’s a one night only screening of Web of Life followed by a live Q&A and book signing with acclaimed mycologist and author Merlin Sheldrake. Tix are $26 and will be at the door.

    February 12: Galentine’s at Suite 104

    ​Galentine’s at Suite 104​ is happening from 6-11pm at Suite 104 (280 N 8th St). Enjoy complimentary bubbles on arrival, charcuterie, a photo booth, permanent jewelry, a build-your-own bouquet bar, and a cocktail demo with a take-home kit. Tix are $30-$50.

    February 12: Woo at the Zoo

    ​Woo at the Zoo – A Wild Valentine’s Celebration​ is happening at Zoo Boise from 6–8pm. It’s an adults-only after-hours zoo event exploring the funny, flirty, and sometimes scandalous ways animals woo. There’s beer, wine, and cider available for purchase. Tix are $25. 21+

    February 13-14: Stanley Winterfest

    ​Stanley Winterfest​ is happening in Stanley throughout the weekend. If you’ve been praying for snow, head on up to the Sawtooths for a wild winter weekend. It’s a family-friendly winter festival with fun events, quirky competitions, outdoor adventures, and more.

    February 13-21: Anthology by Ballet Idaho

    ​Anthology​ by Ballet Idaho is happening at the Boise State University Special Events Center. It’s one of my fave Ballet Idaho events featuring four distinct works that showcase the full range of the company’s storytelling and style. It’s really lovely!

    February 14: Hearts Across the Valley Love Run

    ​CBH Hearts Across the Valley Love Run​ is happening at 9:45am. It’s a community Valentine’s fun run featuring 1-mile and 5K courses along the Boise Greenbelt. It’s hosted by CBH Homes and the YMCA. Tix are $35 for the 5K or $30 for the mile. All ages.

    February 14: Farm to Heart: A Valentine’s Day Dinner

    ​Farm to Heart: A Valentine’s Day Dinner​ is happening at Idaho State Museum from 6-8pm. It’s a 5-course farm-to-table Valentine’s dinner created in partnership with Boise Farmers Market and prepared by chefs Gina D’Orazio-Stryker and Adan Callsen, with gallery access, drinks, and live historical instrument music. Tix are $135 individual, $250 per couple, or $350 private table. 21+

    February 14: Records & Roses Valentine’s Ball

    ​Records & Roses Valentine’s Ball​ is happening at The Riverside Hotel from 7:30-10pm. It’s a vintage-inspired Valentine’s dance party with live hits across the decades from High Street Band. Tix are $30 or book the room package for $329 which includes a hotel room, two tix, dinner for two, and brunch for two.

    February 14: Lunar New Year Celebration

    ​Lunar New Year Celebration​ is happening at JUMP from 10am-4pm. It’s a cultural celebration with calligraphy, tea ceremony, crafts, games, and performances. It’s free and very family friendly!

    February 14: Valentine’s Day Brunch & A Movie

    Idaho Film Society is hosting ​Valentine’s Day Brunch & A Movie: Amélie from 11:30am-3pm. Enjoy a French-inspired meal and a screening of Amélie, exploring love as both nourishment and desire. Tix are $55 per person.

    February 14: Valentine’s Day Dinner + A Movie

    Idaho Film Society is hosting ​Valentine’s Day Dinner + Phantom Thread from 5:30-10pm. It’s a multi-course Valentine’s Day dinner paired with a screening of Phantom Thread, blending fine dining and cinema into an intimate evening. Tix are $100 per person.

    February 14: Romancing the Pen

    ​Romancing the Pen​ is happening at Old Idaho Penitentiary from 12-9pm. It’s a Valentine’s Day experience with special exhibits on real love stories and letters from former inmates at the Idaho State Penitentiary, plus complimentary guided tours, hot drinks, and a scavenger hunt. Tix are $12 for adults (or 2 for $14 with promo code RTP2). All ages.

    February 15: Galentine’s Market at Split Rail Winery

    ​Galentine’s Market​ is happening at Split Rail Winery from 1-5pm. It’s a sip & shop market featuring local makers, chocolates, tarot readings, permanent jewelry, flash tattoos, custom pet portraits, candles, books, and more.

    February 18-March 7: Disney’s The Lion King at Morrison Center

    ​The Lion King​ is happening at Morrison Center for a few weeks. It’s the Broadway touring production. Tix vary by seat and it’s all ages!

    February 21: Destination:Beer

    Destination:Beer is a (mostly) outdoor beer festival on the snowy shore of Payette Lake. It’s in Depot Park under heated tents. There’s 24 Idaho breweries serving 50+ beers. Dress up in your best winter gear and indulge in unlimited beer tastings and pub-style appetizers.

    February 21: Cupid’s Undie Run

    ​Cupid’s Undie Run​ is starting at Tom Grainey’s Sporting Pub at 12pm. It’s a charity fun run where people jog a mile-ish in their undies, followed by a party. The run supports people affected by neurofibromatosis. 21+

    February 21: Seedy Saturday

    ​Seedy Saturday​ is happening at Edwards Greenhouse & Flowershop from 10am-12pm. It’s a free community seed swap with a Seed Starting 101 mini class, partner tables, and time to mingle with fellow gardeners. Bring seeds to share if you have them, but it’s not required. Free and all ages.

    February 25: 32nd Annual Buy Idaho Capitol Show

    ​The 32nd Annual Buy Idaho Capitol Show​ is happening at the Idaho State Capitol from 8am-3pm. It’s a showcase of more than 100 Idaho-owned businesses and community partners spread across all four floors of the Capitol. Free to attend.

    February 28: Boise State’s Engineering and Science Festival

    ​Boise State’s Engineering and Science Festival​ is happening at BSU from 10am-3pm. It’s a family friendly STEM festival featuring hands-on exhibits like robotics, VR, circuitry, 3D printing, and expert-led presentations. It’s free and all ages.

    February 28: Black History Month 70’s Speakeasy

    Idaho Black Community Alliance is hosting ​Black History Month 70’s Speakeasy​ at Kiln in Meridian from 6-9pm. It’s a 70’s-themed celebration with local entertainment, poetry, art, interactive activities, and appetizers in honor of Black History Month. Tix are $45.

    February 28: Boise Punk Flea

    ​Boise Punk Flea​ is happening at The Shredder from 12-5pm. It’s a punk flea market featuring local vendors and music. Free to attend. All ages and dogs are welcome, too!
