March is almost here and spring is springin’. There’s car shows, art exhibits, fun runs, the annual Treefort Music Fest, and much more. As always, I’ll keep ya updated on weekly events every Thursday, but here’s some things to plan ahead for:
March 2-5: HomeBoi
HomeBoi is a celebration for those who love Boise and a convening of community builders and changemakers, dreamers and doers – the individuals and organizations working to build a better Boise. There’s multiple events happening each day at different locations. There’s a group volunteering event, a talk about the changing landscape, the origin story of Treefort Music Fest, a walk & talk with Hideout Coffee Co and Cat’s Eye Creative Reuse, a tour of Saalt’s new packaging facility, a talk about From Boise (with me!), a “belonging in Boise” workshop, and much more. The event is free (donations appreciated) and you need to register for most of the events. More info here!
March 3: Friends of Minidoka 2026 Day of Remembrance
Friends of Minidoka’s 2026 Day of Remembrance is happening at Albertson’s Library at Boise State University on Tuesday, March 3 at 6pm. It’s a free public program featuring the launch of their newest publication, Education and Freedom at Minidoka: The Diary of Superintendent Arthur Kleinkopf, along with the debut of their oral history project exploring the daily realities and moral tensions of life inside a WWII concentration camp. It’s free to attend.
March 5: Living Legacies & Changemakers
Living Legacies & Changemakers: Idaho Women Rewriting the Blueprint is happening at JUMP on Thursday, March 5 from 5–8pm (program begins at 6:30pm). It’s a free panel discussion celebrating Women’s History Month, featuring trailblazing Idaho women in public policy, STEM, skilled trades, and sports. ASL interpretation will be provided. This event is part of the City of Boise’s America 250 programming. It’s free, but registration is required!
March 7: High Tea & History – The Boston Tea Party
High Tea & History – The Boston Tea Party is happening at the Idaho State Museum (610 N Julia Davis Dr) on Saturday, March 7 from 2–4pm. It’s a celebratory tea service with sweets and savories, a lesson on the women of the Boston Tea Party, and a first look at the museum’s newest exhibit “United We Celebrate” on its opening day. You also get vintage-inspired souvenir teacup to take home. Tix are $72 for a single seat, $288 for a private table of 4, or $576 for a private table of 8.
March 7-8: 72nd Annual Rock & Gem Show
The 72nd Annual Rock & Gem Show, hosted by the Owyhee Gem & Mineral Society, is happening at the O’Connor Field House (2207 Blaine St, Caldwell) on Saturday from 10am–6pm and Sunday from 10am–5pm. It’s a family-friendly gem and mineral show featuring dealers, demonstrators, a black light display, silent auction, wheel of gems, sand dig, grab bags, door prizes, and raffles. Admission is $5 cash; kids under 11 are free with an adult.
March 7-11: Big Sky Basketball Championships
Big Sky Basketball Championships (aka StartchMadness lol) is happening at Idaho Central Arena in downtown Boise, with games running daily over the week at various times. It’s the Big Sky Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, featuring all conference teams battling it out for an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. The championship games broadcast on ESPN networks.
March 13-15: Monster Jam
Monster Jam is happening at the Ford Idaho Center. It’s a high-energy, family-friendly motorsport event featuring massive monster trucks competing in racing, freestyle stunts, donuts, and skills challenges. Fans can also check out pre-show Pit Parties to see the trucks up close and meet the drivers. Kids under age 2 are free!
March 13-15: 53rd Annual Boise Roadster Show
The 53rd Annual Boise Roadster Show is happening at Expo Idaho (5610 N. Glenwood St., Garden City) Friday 12–9pm, Saturday 10am–9pm, and Sunday 10am–5pm. It’s Idaho’s premier indoor custom car show, featuring hot rods, radical customs, street machines, motorcycles, boats, classics, and more. There will also be special appearance by iconic builder and TV personality Chip Foose, who will host a meet & greet on Saturday, March 14 from 11am–4pm. Tickets are $15 in advance or $17 at the door; kids 6–12 are $5 and kids 5 & under are free. Parking is free!
March 14: YMCA St. Patrick’s Day Run and Leprechaun Loop
The YMCA St. Patrick’s Day Run and Leprechaun Loop is happening at Julia Davis Park on Saturday, March 14. Three race options: the Leprechaun Mile, the 5K, and the 5 Mile River Dash. Registration is $30 for the mile and $35 for the 5K or 5 Mile. Heads up: prices go up after February 27!
March 15-28: The 42nd Annual Capitol Rotunda Art Show
The 42nd Annual Capitol Rotunda Art Show, presented by the Idaho Watercolor Society is happening at the Idaho State Capitol’s 4th Floor Rotunda, from 7am–7pm March 15-28. It’s a free public exhibition showcasing watercolor paintings by artists from across Idaho. You can vote for your favorite piece in the Voters’ Choice Award and even purchase original artwork to take home. There’s also an Artists’ Reception on Saturday, March 21 from 11am–2pm. It’s free!
March 25-29: Treefort Music Fest
Started in 2012, Treefort Music Fest is an annual five-day celebration of music and art. The fest takes place in multiple venues throughout downtown Boise and brings 500+ artists from across the world to Boise. In addition to tons of live music, there’s comedy, curated food & drinks, drag shows, art installations, yoga, tech talks, storytelling, kid activities & more. There’s lots of different ticket options and kids under age 12 are free with an adult passholder!
March 26 – April 4: Music Theater of Idaho presents Disney’s Frozen
Music Theater of Idaho presents Disney’s Frozen is happening at the Nampa Civic Center, with shows March 26–28 and April 2–4 at 7:30pm, plus two Saturday matinees at 1:30pm. It’s a live stage production of the beloved Disney film, following sisters Anna and Elsa through magic, adventure, and all your favorite songs. Tix are $38-$44.
March 27-29: Boise Flower & Garden Show
Boise Flower & Garden Show is happening at the Boise Centre from 10am–6pm on Friday and Saturday, and 10am–4pm on Sunday. It’s the biggest flower and garden show in Idaho and a perfect kickoff to spring, featuring spectacular garden displays, bonsai exhibits, live music, educational seminars, and 100+ exhibitors selling everything from plants and tools to outdoor furniture and local foods. Tix are $10 per day or $15 for a 3-day Ultimate Pass.
March 28: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in Concert
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in Concert is happening at the Morrison Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, March 28, with two shows at 1:00pm and 7:30pm. It’s a magical experience where you can watch the sixth Harry Potter film on the big screen while the Boise Philharmonic performs the score live. Tix start at $83.75.
