    Local Lists

Hi, I'm Marissa Lovell, a writer and lover of all things local. So glad you're here.

Happy love week! Valentine’s is my second fave holiday (after Halloween) because I love love, I love candy, and I love the color scheme. If you are workin’ on your v-day plans with your honey or your friends, here’s a few local places that have the romance vibe:

    8 Horses Lounge

    📍 199 N 8th St, Downtown Boise (below Fork)

8 Horses Lounge is in a reimagined historic bank vault beneath Fork restaurant, right in the heart of downtown Boise. It’s intimate, posh, and cozy. Indulge in outstanding cocktails and curated wines. Afterward head upstairs for a meal at Fork or Alavita.

Nearby: Fork, Alavita, 8th street restaurants

    Oldspeak

    📍 3640 W Chinden Blvd, Garden City

Oldspeak is part bookstore, part bar, part community space. Open 10am-10pm Wed-Sun, you can plan a date here for a morning coffee, afternoon beverage, or late night beers. Lots of different seating to cozy up, but my pick would be over by the fireplace. 21+

Nearby: Black Moon Pizza & Pastries, Barrigas Mexican Restaurant, Rosa, Berts Brewing, Parcero Wine Bar

    Percy

    📍 1009 W Main St, Downtown Boise

Percy is a go-to date night for me. Polished yet comfortable with incredible food and drinks. Sourdough pappardelle, burgers, sandwiches, amazing apps. Also there’s free parking in the ICCU parking lot after 6pm and on weekends.

    Susina

    📍 1621 N Orchard St, Boise Bench

Susina is a romantic, European-inspired restaurant on the Boise Bench. They serve a seasonal three-course prix-fixe menu. Choose from housemade pastas, seasonal salads, and intriguing entrees. Don’t forget dessert because the menu is impressive. The main restaurant is in a converted house and you can also reserve the cottage greenhouse for 7-16 people. I think this one is a hidden gem!

    Nearby: Bert’s Brewing

    Thick as Thieves

    📍 620 W Idaho St, Suite 200, Downtown Boise

Thick as Thieves is perhaps the sexiest of them all. A dark, moody speakeasy with lots of nooks. Enter through the side door (look for the two thieving birds) and dial 102, then settle in for creative, beautifully crafted drinks. The menu changes often so enjoy what you are drinking while you can. They have great mocktail options too!

Little Pearl is a teeny tiny oyster and cocktail bar that’s equal parts classy and fun. Fresh oysters daily, great wine, cocktails & mocktails, and a cozy dining space that makes everything feel a little more intimate. Chef Cal was just nominated for a James Beard Award!

    The Stagecoach Inn

    📍 3132 W Chinden Blvd, Boise

The Stagecoach Inn is an old-school steakhouse/saloon that’s been around since 1959. Prime rib, loaded bakers, homemade rolls and salad dressings, bar prawns, halibut chunks… I could go on and on. It’s nostalgic, cozy, and perfect for a date night with guaranteed good food.
